I have tried most of the major supermarkets and have found Asda to be the best. I suppose that I am fortunate because my local Asda is a new modern 24 hour Hypermarket now sporting their new Wal-Mart logo. The only downside is that is currently being expanded so some areas have been closed off and the aisle widths have been narrowed.Part of the car park is also temporaraly closed off.
The trolleys at Asda are free, particularly convenient if you have left home without a pound coin.
The store is large and bright and neat and tidy.
I find products relatively easy to find. They do not tend to move things around too much from week to week like some of the other supermarkets do.
There is an excellent range of products which covers all of the major brand names at very competitive prices as well as their own smartprice range which offers superb value for money. There are many offers too, these vary from month to month but include 3 for 2 offers etc on many products.Their range of fresh foods is particularly good but these areas close at 9pm so are no good for the late night shopper.
The non grocery items offer particularly good value for money which range from elecrtical items (TV's, videos etc)to clothing, Books, records, CD's and stationary.
All electrical items come with a minimum of 3 years guarentee, I don't know of anywhere else that offers such a deal.
The clothes range is of excellent quality. Their own George brand is very up to date and a pair of good quality jeans would set you back less than £10.
The book range at Asda offers all of the blockbusters and latest titles well below the recommended retailers price and all chart CD's are currently £9.99, at HMV/Virgin these tend to be £14.99.
To add the comfortable shopping experience there is a cafe, toilets with baby change facilities and payphones. There is also a photo kiosk for passport photos and a new coin change weighing machine.
The staff are smart and helpful and failing that there is always the customers services counter.
All of this can help turn a stressful shopping expedition into a reasonable experience.
I use my local Asda more than any of the other supermarkets at the mo. My one gripe is that they often don't have enough tills open and it can take as long or longer to get through the checkout as it does to do the shopping. They are good value for money though. Karen x

We don't shop there very often but if I have to get something quickly, Asda is where I go as it's the nearest to me! Leila :)

I have become a bit of a fan over the last couple of years - it's now the nearest supermarket to us. Nice op. marc
