Now, my local Asda have a been a little crafty with these value rolls. For some reason, they're not on the main loo roll aisle, which is full of all the scented, softened stuff . You'll need to go down the loo roll aisle, and around onto the cleaning products aisle where this loo roll sits on the end . I wonder if this is some trick on Asda's part to make us pay for the next one up -perhaps they are hoping if they hide it we'll give up and ...

It's very cheap - 43p for 4 rolls, or 1.26 for 12 rolls . I always buy the 12 roll pack - it might only save me a few pence, but a savings a saving - especially when it's money that is literally going to be flushed down the toilet anyway .

I would recommend this for budget bottoms everywhere . I would stress that it is a little harsh on a sore nose if you have a cold though, so you may want to spend a little on some other tissue ... more

There is a dazzling selection of toilet rolls available nowadays - quilted, coated, scented, antibacterial, with added moisturiser , with pretty patterns, toilet rolls designed to perfectly complement your hat.

Well, maybe not the last one . But our bottoms must surely be the most pampered they have been in years . Me, I'm not too fussy, in fact, with the credit crunch I'm downgrading most of my brands to save a little money - so, bog standard bog roll for me . Unlike the poor accountant, I CAN budget!

Now, there was a day when your main option for cheap toilet paper was Izal - and that stuff was awful .Its performance at the lower end of my anatomy was abysmal! In fact any drips have a tendency to skate across the surface, thereby ensuring a sure-fire deposit of said drips onto the hand. Not my image of hygienic. For solids, it was no better, smearing rather than removing, and tearing my arse to shreds in the process .

Value toilet paper has come a long way now - no longer is it sharp edged tracing paper, but instead the soft, white, roll of squares we are all so used to .

Asda's smart price toilet roll is fairly decent quality - 2 ply, tightly wound round a cardboard tube with handy perforations for tearing . It is slightly speckled in appearance rather than a pure white, perhaps due to it being recycled (No, it hasn't wiped somebodys bottom before mine, I just mean its made from recycled paper!).

The squares do seem ever so slightly smaller than a slightly more expensive loo roll, and the paper is not the softest . But, it's not bad - and its certainly soft enough for wiping your bum on . I did find it a little rough for blowing my nose when I had a cold though, so bought some softer tissue for snottering into .

The packaging is not particurly pretty - mainly see through, with bands of white and green. it contains all the info you'd need though - including contact information, a warning to keep the wrapping away from children, and the information that the inner cardboard tubes are recyclable.
