Asda Smartprice White Toilet Tissue

... Asda's smart price toilet roll is fairly decent quality - 2 ply, tightly wound round a cardboard tube with handy perforations for tearing . It is slightly speckled in appearance rather than a pure white, perhaps due to it being recycled (No, it hasn't wiped somebodys bottom before mine, I ... Read review

Why throw your money down the toilet ? Budget for your bottom!

Now, my local Asda have a been a little crafty with these value rolls. For some reason, they're not on the main loo roll aisle, which is full of all the scented, softened stuff . You'll need to go down the loo roll aisle, and around onto the cleaning products aisle where this loo roll sits on the end . I wonder if this is some trick on Asda's part to make us pay for the next one up -perhaps they are hoping if they hide it we'll give up and ...

It's very cheap - 43p for 4 rolls, or 1.26 for 12 rolls . I always buy the 12 roll pack - it might only save me a few pence, but a savings a saving - especially when it's money that is literally going to be flushed down the toilet anyway .

I would recommend this for budget bottoms everywhere . I would stress that it is a little harsh on a sore nose if you have a cold though, so you may want to spend a little on some other tissue ... more

Value for Money

Quality

Flushing money down the loo!

Advantages: good price,
Disadvantages: two ply layers separate, not overly soft

...this on the shelf in Asda and compared its price to that of the other brands on the shelf, I though I'd give it a try. At around 40p for 4 rolls, it was by far and away a snip! Ok, so when I got it home I was pleased to find it wasn't the cheap, tracing paper type toilet roll I remember from my school days (and public toilets) that is just painful to use, so that was a good start. It actually felt pretty soft - equally good. It is two ply, so quite ...
...totally smooth look, but I could live with that. On use it felt soft too, however it is not soft enough for all uses you have for toilet tissue - if you have a cold I would recommend some softer tissues for your nose! What did irritate me, and will probably prevent me from repurchasing, is that, on use, the two layers of the toilet roll seemed to separate. This meant that the two layers were at different heights and it became hard to tear neatly. ...

Roll on the next brand of toilet tissue.

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful. Just about does the job.
Disadvantages: Not very absorbent. Bit rough when used.

Whilst doing my weekly shopping I came across the toiletries aisle, and with my relatively low budget, opted to peruse the cheaper wares. Normally when I buy toilet paper in particular I am not too fussy (the colour matters not as I believe it's all going to the same place anyway). I have to say that it was the stonkingly low price that first attracted me to Asda's very own Smartprice toilet rolls, at 40p for 4 rolls. A bargain you may think, but ...
...of the rolls themselves. The packaging is very basic (plain transparent wrapping with what it is briefly described in Asda's very own style of black and green writing. I won't go into details over my experience of actually using the toilet tissue, but I will say that you can certainly tell the difference between this and higher quality brands in the market. The 2-ply structure of the paper is barely sufficient to be deemed soft, and in terms of its ...
