We were shopping in Asda, when my boyfriend said he wanted some After Sun as he had got sunburnt on his arms. We headed for the sun care section, and he chose Asda Smart Price after sun lotion as it was the cheapest one there. To be honest, I wasn't convinced this would be any good and offered to buy a more expensive named brand, but he insisted that this one would be fine, so that's what we bought.

A few weeks later and I had to use this myself as I'm very pale and managed to get slightly burnt on my shoulders even though I'd only been in the sun 10 minutes!

~**~Packaging~**~

Smart Price is Asda's economy range, and like all other products in this range, the packaging is plain white and simply has 'after sun lotion' written on the front in blue - no fancy writing or pictures. The bottle has a small, flip top cap, which when pulled up, is actually the nozzle for applying the cream. The bottles contain 200ml of lotion.

~**~Smell~**~

This has a pleasant, slightly sweet smell, which lasts on the skin for quite a while after use, although isn't overpowering.

~**~Using the lotion~**~

You only need to squeeze the bottle gently to apply a small amount of lotion to the skin. The lotion itself is white in colour and is fairly thin in consistency, so a small amount of lotion covers a large area of skin. It has an immediate cooling effect on the skin, which lasts quite a while, so does not need to be frequently re-applied. What I wasn't expecting, was the moisturising effect it had on my skin. It left my skin feeling incredibly soft and moisturised without feeling tacky.

~**~Price and Availability~**~

This costs £1.50 and is only available from Asda stores.

~**~My Verdict~**~

Overall, I was very impressed with this product. Although there are some things where I always buy the budget version, I probably would have chosen a more expensive version of after sun had I been choosing myself. I am, however, very impressed with this after sun lotion, and would thoroughly recommend it. A great buy and a bargain too!

I'm in two minds about Asda. There's an Asda express near my Mums house that I occassionally pop into. Most of the stuff is own brand and seems to be a bargain, though I bought some hair gel a while back and it was awful.
