Disadvantages: Only the ugly building

The most oft-repeated received truths about learning foreign languages are also the most fallacious : (1)English people are no good at it ; and (b)it is always best to be taught by nationals of the country whose language you wish to study. (1) is baloney : if the quality of teaching is committed and imaginative, as it is at Worcester, you'll learn. They know how to make you want to, by sharing their enthusiasm for linguistics. Advantages: Excellent location. Small but friendly.
Disadvantages: Cost of living is high

...SOAS is the specialist college of London Umiversity for African and Asian sudies. Indeed it is the biggest such centre of any University in the World. Given this background perhaps it is not surprising that it attracts a large number of overseas students. I spent two years at SOAS as a postgraduate student and enjoyed the international flavour of the place very much. I met students from the United States,Sweden, Brunei,Malaysia, Japan,Nigeria,Germany,France, Singapore,Egypt and Pakistan whilst I was there. I found the lecturers to be specialists in their subject,very helpful and the lecture courses were very organised. I was also very impressed with the administration of my department and the library facilities were very good. Every sudent had access to e -mail and IT facilities were good.
