I am a 26 year old maths teacher living in East Sussex. I shop carefully and want my money to work as hard for me as possible. I hope that my experiences will help others decide what is worth cashing out on and what is best to leave on the shelves!

`At Home With Your PC` is a collection of information leaflets aiming to teach you to use your computer efficiently. It begins with the very basics in an introductory booklet which clearly describes how to carry out simple operations such as point and click without talking down to the reader.
The collection then comprises of categorised cards that fit into a binder, as usual with such publications the cards are not supplied in numerical order, thus meaning your knowledge is not built up gradually. A way around this is to save the cards up until you have a reasonable amount to read at once, although again this presents difficulties.
The cards present the information clearly making good use of screen shots and other illustrations. The cards are folded like greetings cards, opening to the right instead of the left, and are about two thirds the size of A4. On the front, top left, is a list of contents and a mini glossary of key words, there is also an introduction to the topic. Inside is the main body of the information; on the back is a question and answer page related to the topic in a style similar to an agony aunt column.
The series seems most suitable for adult beginners and children with an adult helping. CDs are provided with the course containing materials to go with the cards, for example letterhead templates and games. There CDs cover quite a large ability range and some would have to be saved until the user had more knowledge, this could lead to the user becoming disheartened.
The material in this series is of a very high standard, however the format presents several disadvantages, if you are willing to accept these it is an excellent method of improving your computer skills and productivity.
Cost: There is an introductory offer available on the providers website (www.athomewithyourpc.co.uk) which gives you 30 of the PC cards, two CDs, one binder for the cards and one for the CDs for £1.99, a saving of £28. After this you get a pack of ten cards and one CD through the post about once a month, these packs cost £6.99.

Can't remember how, but we received an introductory set of this, better and cheaper to buy a monthly mag, or just go to the library for the same info.

Nice op but perhaps you could put in a bit a more detail about what aspects are covered e.g. internet, graphics, using common software packages etc. Happy to rerate if you decide to update it.

Mark
