In the past everyone involved in gaming knew that the more ‘bits’ a certain console had the better it was going to be, well I certainly did ... ...Arcade games.
So the Atari Jaguar had an almighty fight to reigning supreme, sadly it didn’t.
When the Nintendo 64 came along the Jaguar was nearing death, so in my opinion they didn’t really compete, but N64 was far superior.
***WHY DID IT FAIL?***
Gaming back before the Playstation and Co was far less popular so there was a small majority to sell it to , to make a profit anyway. It was to expensive at launch, £200 to £300, and offered ...

Advantages: old school games on a decent console Disadvantages: short on game titles
This is one for the Retro gamer out there.
orignaly a forgotten about console that nobody really could be bothered with. now i see people walking into secongd hand shops and paying hundreds for these ( DONT) i got one for £20. its a great console with great games but only if your into your games from the late 80s and 90s.
they came usually with Doom so you had somthing to play and at the time Doom on a 64bit console was unheard of now its just ... ...use buttons because the jaguar comes with a rather differen control. its a bit big but with the card overlays that came with the games labled all the buttons for you.
its actually easier to find game for the jaguar now then when it was released as loads of game shops stock secondhand and new games. also bargains can be found on ebay from 99p
not a console for everybody more for the retro old school gamer ...

...to know is that the Atari Jaguar is bad. Fortunately it is one of those rare items that is so bad it comes out the other side and ends up as quite good! I'm just glad I never splashed out on one when they were released, but waited until I found a cheap 2nd hand one last year.
Looking back, you have to wonder what Atari thought they were doing. Pitching the Jaguar against the original Playstation, the Saturn and the prospects of the Nintendo 64 was ... ...and poor ones at that. Atari seem to have performed their usual trick in latter years of getting their hands on some halfway decent hardware and then completely messing up the software support.
When they were designing the Jaguar controller Atari decided to go for the record for the most buttons on a joypad. It has a directional pad on the left and three large red fire buttons on the right with two buttons in between for start / select. Nothing ...
