Advantages: Consumption, Very vast and comfortable, approval of control Disadvantages: a little light reliability for a audi, high dimension
...It is one of my relative who has this car. I know it well because I went on holidays several times.
First, I want to say you that I love driving this car : its engine is flexible and powerful, it very roomy and consumes very little for a vehicle of this category.
This car was bought of occasion with 100 000 kms at a private individual. The criterion of the purchase was a vast and comfortable car consuming little fuel. One can say that the mission is successful, but my relative have some trouble with the Audi A6 Avant 2.5 TDI. He wants an AUDI car for several reasons: Reputation of serious and reliability, quality of manufacture and also esthetics.

Advantages: Turbo really makes a difference Disadvantages: See PS.
...I have always been a bit wary of Audis.

The Audi A4 brakes are over-assisted, but these are well weighty, making progressive and controlled stopping easy. Wind noise and tyre noise are kept low, for a car of its class. Economy from the VW group 1.6 is good, though turbo-diesel versions are of course much better.
The accommodation is good inside without ever being very roomy. They can be a little sombre, but the boot is a good size, and it taller and wider than some but less deep than many. Plastics and general feelare of a very solid and well made car with good quality materials.
Problems? Well for me, the door pulls in the front are looking a little tired as the rubberised surface has not worn...
