Complete confidence in this car Advantages: Its simplicity Disadvantages: Boot shape I chose a P reg Audi A4 earlier this year when I needed a suitable car for my sales rep job. Since March I have travelled over 20,000 miles taking overall mileage to 155,000 - and not had a single problem. Fuel consumption is excellent - 600 miles out of a tank costing approx £45-50 to fill (depending on diesel price obviously!). What really surprised me was how EASY it is to do things like change bulbs in both front and rear lights - even I could ... ...long distances - and oh - it can certainly shift when you put your foot down to get past those lorries too!!!! Running a Used A4 Advantages: Build quality, reliability, ride & handling, comfort, practicality, fuel consumption. Disadvantages: Servicing parts/costs ...priced 2.0 family car, the Audi rides with superior quality, and is fast enough to keep up with modern day traffic conditions. On two occasions I have had yellow warning lights appear from the engine management system. On one occasion the car had detected a leaking pipe in the engine, and on the second occasion the sensor was faulty, and the car reverted to a sluggish fail-safe mode designed to prevent harming the engine. While not enjoying the benfits of a warranty, through buying a used A4 I have enjoyed a standard of motoring unavailble in a £9,000 new car and would recommend the car to someone considering it as a used buy. During the course of owning my A4 I have driven five models from the new BMW 3 series range. My 4 year old A4 compared very favourably to a brand new 320i, and a professional driver friend of mine preferred my A4 to the 3 series. Audi A4 1.8SE Auto 4 Door Advantages: Ride, Build Quality, Image, Looks, Equipment Disadvantages: Rear Legroom, Running costs, Dull Handling ...I've had my 1998 Audi A4 1.8SE Auto 4 door for 4 months now and it still puts a smile on my face. Whether it's the solid 'thunk' of the doors closing, or the gorgeous tone of the superb 'Concert' stereo, the Audi continues to be a car I will never regret buying. I purchased privately from a family who had cherished the car - it came in superb condition, with low mileage, and a full Audi service history. The light green (Jasper Green) really looks ... ...an Audi driver. You just get the feeling that Audi's command a certain respect. The A4 has an understated quality and image, and it makes you feel special. Next time I'll go for a TDi Avant (if I can afford one), but meanwhile I'll enjoy what I've got. Rick ... Practical versus image Advantages: MPG, Comfort, value for money Disadvantages: Looks, Small boot We bought this car due to a growing family thinking that it would be spacious and being an estate have a large boot. We were also looking for a diesel as we were doing quite a lot of miles. However, having owned the car for some 5 months now and going on several holidays in the UK with a 4 year old and a 12 week old baby, I can confirm that we were wrong about the boot - I can't believe how little we can fit in the boot considering it is an estate, ... ...Well, actually I suppose you can get quite a bit in if you're prepared to stack your things up to the roof, but we weren't for safety reasons - really didn't like the idea of travelling on the motorway with two young children in the back seats with a boot load of things that could easily end up on their knees.
