What to say about the audi? The car is brilliantly built with a real solid feel and the cabin is a very refined and comfortable place to be with plenty of gadgets to play with when you get bored! The sound system in the car blows me away with the full surround sound and the clarity, quality and depth that it produces. The car is pretty quick off the mark and can get you out of most situations with a quick prod of the accelerator but the power does seem to tail off as you get to the higher rev ranges.
I bought this car about 9 months ago while living at the very top of scotland so I have done a few long journeys in it (over 600 miles at a time!). I would have to say that over a very long distance the seat can become uncomfortable and you do end up with a bad back and that the fuel consumption is not great! On a long journey with different road types (from motorway to twisty B roads) the average I got was around 25.8 mpg so it can become a little expensive!
Also you need to watch out for a fault with the music system. When the car is cold the volume control does not work properly and is either extremely quiet or REALLY loud! This is a fault on all the systems but it does stop within about 20 minutes of driving the car.
Overall, I would have to say the audi is a good car that I would definately reccomend to buy as long as your not doing long commutes in it! Very fun to drive and a beautiful cabin to sit in combined with the 4 wheel drive system and brilliant build quality you really can't go far wrong with this car.
Advantages: Great build quality, high reliability, long periods between services, good image. Disadvantages: Little bit too sensible, high price, not very exciting.
...have one question; is the Audi 1.8T Quattro too perfect?
This car does everything well. It commutes the motorways in the outside lanes with all the comfort of a small limosine. It negociates the country lanes in a safe manor(thanks to the effective 4 wheel drive system). It also gets those admiring glances (mostly from women) when you are stuck at the lights but, the car is a little like the efficient prefect that did the regisration when the teacher ... ...This car offers 180bhp and Audi's renouned four wheel drive system that senses which wheels have the most grip so that power can be put down most effectively. There is also Audi's ESP (Electronic Stability Program) that can get you out of all kinds of difficulties. As a perk of buying this car I was invited to Silverstone on an 'Audi Driving Day'. There the test drivers scared us silly swerving in and out of cones, with this ESP thingy both on and ...
