The first thing that struck me with this car was the build quality and feeling of being in a very solid car. Despite being a smaller-sized hatch, this car has a surprisingly large amount of front space and a boot that could swallow whole families. Yes, the rear seats do have less leg room than you would expect in a car of this size, but the front sports seats cause this. In the non-sport model, the standard seats do allow for exra legs in the rear. The boot can comfortably hold three sets of golf clubs and if I collapse one side of the 2/3 split rear seats, six can easliy be squeezed in.
The interior trim is fantastic, despite being three years old, this car doesn't possess a single rattle or knock from any corner or orifice. My model has the black leather trim with front sports seats. The leather hasn't faded in any way that is noticible to me, so either it hasn't, or has faded very uniformly. The air-conditioning is second to none and can reduce the inside of the car to fridge-like temperatures in mearly minutes. The single-touch electric windows and tilt/slide sunroom are a really great feature too, providing extra safety as one hand needs to come off the wheel for only seconds.
The onboard computer shows a few different read-outs. Two of which are current mpg and distance till empty. I find that with varied town/motorway driving i get about 350miles from the tank with an average mpg of around 25-35. If I am constantly hitting the turbo hard and accelerating (!) then it has been known to go down to about 18, but that's extreeme. I bought the car with 27k on the clock and it was as good as new inside, still had that great new car smell, especially with the leather. The sport seats were still nice and firm with no softening or dis-shaping whatsoever.
Perhaps the biggest notable comment regarding this car is the pace. With the 150bhp 20valve V5 enigne 0-60mph is achieved in around 8 seconds on the nose and the car will still pull agressively all the way beyond 120 (max speed 148mph). Stomp the accelerator down on the motorway and the nose still lifts slightly at 90mph. The turbo kicks in at around 2.5-3k revs, providing an incredible note of refinded whizz. followed again by a subtle spin down swoosh. The engine note is also superb, remaining subtle but tastefully powerful enough to give a nice roar on ignition and acceleration. Conversly, the stopping power of this car is fantastic, front and rear vented disk breaks bring the A3-T to a pretty rapid stop. Accompanied with very adept ABS and an adjustable traction control (EPS) this makes for a very safe car in both dry and wet conditions. Even with traction control off, the car is set up so well that there is virtually no body roll or overstear noticible at any time.
My A3 is 'shining silver' with full black interior and leather seats. Overall, I have been stunned at the quality, drive and especially performance of this car and would highly reccomend it to anyone looking to change up from a smaller car, but doesn't want to go for a saloon or sporty small hatch.
Advantages: Great car, understated looks, performance, prestege Disadvantages: Price, Fuel Economy ( who cares),
...this year I brought an Audi A3 1.8Turbo on a 03 registration, When you think of Audi most people will think of a Prestige brand with great looking cars, reliable, they hold their value well and their dealerships are generally pretty good. At least that's the view that I had of them when I went into the dealership looking at a Used Audi a3, and I was not wrong. I found a beautiful Dolphin Grey Audi A3 with the 1.8T engine and all the usual spec to ... ...Engines
The engines that Audi put in their cars are usually a dream, in the A3 they start off with the basic 1.6 engine which produces just over 100Bhp enough for most people, then the next engine up is the 1.8T then this came in a variety of different guises, the basic was 150Bhp, then they did a four wheel drive Quattro with 180Bhp, and or course the best engine the S3 with 210Bhp on the early models and 225bhp on the later ones, of course they ...

...I can not speak of Audi customer service because I bought the car private, and maintained and serviced it myself using parts from GSF, and Euro carparts, which offer the OEM parts for less. COMPETITION:
When purchasing the A3, the other main competitor was the Golf. I am glad that I stuck to my guns and bought an A3. Also there was the problem with the Golfs security which was featured on TV's watchdog program.
MODIFICATIONS:
I had aftermarket PI suspension kit lowering the car by 30mm. This took the understeer away when taking corners fast. Also it gave it a more aggressive stance without detriment to ride comfort and ground clearance.
I then put on MAS Italy VT5R 17" alloy wheels, the ...

This is my 2nd A3, the first was one of the originals back in early 97 and was a real head turner. The original one was on order for 6 months and was only a basic 1.6, though it went well enough if you worked it hard.
My new one is a Kingfisher Blue 1.8T, I didnt replace the other A3 with this one, instead I bought a Golf GTI 1.8T which was unfortunately written off earlier this year (not my fault I must add!!) The main problem I had with both A3's is the lack of ground clearance at the front, caused mainly by the overhang, the engine cover has already been replaced due to it catching on driveways.

...liked the look of the Audi A3, but was always a little put off by the price tag, when compared to its rivals, (Golf etc). However after test driving the alfa 146, golf GTI, and the 306, I decided on giving the A3 a go. Boy was I pleased I did. The car, AŁ 1.8t sport had the whole kit on board, leather, air con. sunroof, computer, the lot! Only a few faults were to be found on the A3. Leg room in the rear is something to be desired, but only to be expected with a three door hatch. Leg room in the front however is a little more of a necassary requirement. On short journeys, not a problem. Long journeys however become a little painfull, what with your right leg being pinned up against the door for the entire ...

Advantages: Fuel economy, good boot size, roomy for the size Disadvantages: View out of back window when reversing not great
I own a Audi A3 and love it. The drive of this vehicle really make you realise that you are not in a less priced manufacturer. The gear box is smooth to use, the engine humms as you guide the acclerator onto the throttle. The comfortable seating position gives you the satisfaction that the car will make the distance to where ever your heart desires.
Even though I would go for the 1.9TDI 130bhp version the 1,8T is nothing to be snifted at. This car ...

Advantages: Great build quality, lots of toys, pretty nippy and a name you can trust. Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, fault on stereo and uncomfortable on really long journeys.
with different road types (from motorway to twisty B roads) the average I got was around 25.8 mpg so it can become a little expensive!
Also you need to watch out for a fault with the music system. When the car is cold the volume control does not work properly and is either extremely quiet or REALLY loud! This is a fault on all the systems but it does stop within about 20 minutes of driving the car.
Overall, I would have to say the audi is a good car that I would definately reccomend to buy as long as your not doing long commutes in it! Very fun to drive and a beautiful cabin to sit in combined with the 4 wheel drive system and brilliant build quality you really can't go far wrong with this car. ...
Advantages: Great build quality, high reliability, long periods between services, good image. Disadvantages: Little bit too sensible, high price, not very exciting.
Having owned one for about a year I have one question; is the Audi1.8T Quattro too perfect?
This car does everything well. It commutes the motorways in the outside lanes with all the comfort of a small limosine. It negociates the country lanes in a safe manor(thanks to the effective 4 wheel drive system). It also gets those admiring glances (mostly from women) when you are stuck at the lights but, the car is a little like the efficient prefect that did the regisration when the teacher was late, a bit too goody goody with little character.
This car offers 180bhp and Audi's renouned four wheel drive system that senses which wheels have the most grip so that power can be put down most effectively. There is also Audi's ESP (Electronic Stability Program) that can get you out of all kinds of difficulties. As a perk of buying this car I ...
Advantages: Fast and Sporty yet still 4 door family car Disadvantages: Slightly basic layout inside
Purchased a 51 plate black magic Cupra 2 years ago and have never looked back. This car is an excellent choice.
The Cupra looks sporty and has the power to back up the looks. 0-60 is about 7.6 seconds. Lots of torque throughout all 6 gears. Maximum speed of 145mph. Average fuel consumption is about 36mpg.
Only group 16 insurance so not too bad. Not only do you get a sporty hatchback but you also still have a 4 door family car so that keeps the wife happy. Interior is a bit basic but I have the full black leather interior which easily makes up for that. I personally think this hatchback is one of the best in it's class. It out performs both the Golf GTI and the AudiA31.8T. ...
