Audi A3 2.0 TDI SE 5dr

...I have owned this car for just over a year and can say that i thoroughly love it!! I have owned an array of cars over the 15 years i have been driving including BMW's VW's, Vauxhall etc... but this is by far the best car i have owned and driven. The Quality of the car is felt from the second you slide into the Leather and Suede bucket seats and the quality of the dash with the brushed aliminum trim. The ride is as smooth as a baby's bum and even some of my friends who own Mercedes and BMW's are always very impressed. The safety features are also fantastic with as many air bags as you could shake a stick at and many other features you dont even know are there until you may be unlucky enough to need them. Advantages: Good value, lots of extras, looks classy inside
Disadvantages: Few niggling problems, uses oil.

...I have had my 2004 for just over a year now, it had done 9000 miles when i bought it, now just coming up to 48,000. In that time it has been good with fuel economy around 48mpg even with the climate on all the time. Build quality is very good, i owned golf mk4's before and the audi definately has the edge, this new a3 has much improved handling and the 2.0tdi is very torquey but quiet. Only downside is it does use oil, dont be fooled by dealers, the oil is not cheap either at £12 a litre. Aside from that i have had a new clutch under warranty and minor bits and pieces but it is a great car and i would recommend to anyone. Get the SE over the sport as value for money it beats it every time, the auto lights and rear dimming mirror are a must.... Read review

Disadvantages: Less performance than others at this price

...of room in the front seats, while the rear seats will carry 2 or 3 people over short journeys with an acceptable amount of room for this type of car. The 1.9TDI engine in this particular model is rated at just over 100bhp. I expected to find the car noisy and slow in comparison to my own 3.0 petrol car, but in actual fact the 1.9TDI really suits the character of this car - it pulls well once the turbo has spooled up and is very economical. If buying a car purely for short trips around town, the 1.6 special edition will be quieter as well as offering the benefit of costing just £14,995 OTR which would probably more than offset its slightly poorer fuel consumption. However, if you plan to use your A3 on the motorway, the 1.9TDI offers much more torque and is able to keep up with rush-hour traffic. The handling is good and the ride quality firm... Read review
