Having recently been in a position of getting an Audi TT Quattro in black for a knock down price, and only being the second owner, it was an impulse buy.
At first everything was good, it had a CD changer, heated seats, computer telling you everything, and the looks you got when driving were fun. The novelty really REALLY wears off fast however.
After about a week of driving, having such a noticeable car started to become a problem rather than being a bit of fun. It might just be me but I was constantly checking it to make sure it was safe from people. Even in car parks, where there were much nicer cars, I would be paranoid because it would stick out so much.
The window was certainly interesting. Designed more for what it looks like than function, you really had to sit well in order to get a proper view of the road, and if not, then it was just downright dangerous to be sat in, especially on narrow country roads. Having heated seats etc were all fun, but of course, a big burn on the battery, as was the 24hr central locking lights.
It would go fast, as it had turbo, but it would also fart about with kicking in, so you would end up juddering about not knowing whether you needed to speed up or slow down, and end up looking ridiculous! Thankfully this didnt happen often but it was concerning.
Eventually one day, at 3am, the alarm went off. After 5 times of messing about, we left it unlocked, which was a worry but sleep became more important. In the morning, it would not start whatsoever. Not only had it decided to discharge the battery, the fuses had all blown, and it was impossible to drive.
When trying to find someone to help, breakdowns wouldnt come to your home address, and generic places would not touch the Audi fusebox, because Audi keep their codes to themselves, meaning you have to get them fixed there, which, after signing up for the correct breakdown cover, we had to do.
On driving there, the tow man said Audi were noted for treating people like something on their shoe. Although they didnt do this to me, they did do this to many other people. Whilst waiting for the fella to come out, the receptionist put down someones phone, stuck two fingers up at them, waited at the desk for about 10mins, then went to get the person they wanted, then came back and messed about a bit more, before finally routing them through!!
Knowing the garage charged at least £105 to have it with them, and after a couple of days, we decided to cut out losses, and the garage bought it from us, which netted us a small profit!
After having had the 'sports car,' its put me off for life! Too much technology = too many openings for problems!!

I agree this is not a practical car but it's not meant to be. It's purpose is to make you look and feel good about yourself, thats what alot of people pay for these days???? Nice review - enjoyed the read.
