THe Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
Advantages: Great story, interesting Disadvantages: Is it true??
The Da Vinci Code is probably one of the most controversial books of the modern day. When it was released it caused a storm. The Da Vinci code was released in 2003.It was written by Dan Brown and was an international bestseller. The book has sold 80 million copies as of 2009 and has been translated into 44 language. Most people, I know me included always thought this was his first novel. However, his first novel was actually Angels and Demons which ... ...to put down. Of course, the subject matter is very controversial and although it is meant to be somewhat fictional I can see elements of truth in it. The basic story features Robert Langdon, a professor of Symbology. He is the main character of the book as it's up to him to solve the riddles and ultimately save himself. He is called to the Louvre to examine a body that has died in mysterious circumstances with strange symbols around him. Robert tries ...

A Slow Burner.
Advantages: Vivid writing, well read, Jack Reacher. Disadvantages: Slower than the other Reacher books.
...action hero is back!
Echo Burning is the fifth book in the Reacher series and sees the ex-military cop drawn into the life of a Texan ranch owner's wife.
On the road, as always, Reacher accepts a lift from a women who is looking for a man just like Reaacher. Her violent husband is about to be released from prison and she wants him dead. As Reacher becomes more involved, and corpses start to turn up, is all as it seems with the soft spoken woman?
... ...bleached and harsh colour of Echo County (the fictional setting for the book) and its dusty, deserted roads.
In some ways, it's possibly the most techincally accomplished of the Reacher books. He manges to conjure the images of hazy barns and sweltering bunk houses amazingly well and you can almost feel the heat s you read his vivid and well written descriptions of scorched landscapes.
The story builds to a satisfying, if not spectacular, climax ...

"Hop, Skip and Sing Spanish" - learn Spanish with your baby!
Advantages: A good help for parents with poor Spanish to start teaching their children Spanish from young age. Disadvantages: The book is a black and white, soft cover script of the CD - no use for children.
I always wanted to teach my children Spanish from a very young age (even from birth). But my own Spanish leaves much to be desired. That is why I could never start in the right direction until I came across Ana Lomba's books. My older son was 2 years old when I purchased "Hop, Skip, and Sing Spanish." The first excercise from the book was the game when the child has to "walk... walk fast... walk slowly... run... jump... jump very high" all in Spanish ... ...(I was doing the exercise with him and it was very fun). After that we were eager to learn some other action songs and finger games in the book. Ana Lomba selected some rhymes and songs from the Spanish folklore, translated some of the English ones and also wrote some of her own and organised them in the order to build up children's vocabulary and practice over and over the words in different situations.
The CD is brilliant even for babies. There ...
