Perfect bedtime story book and truly captivating Advantages: fantastic storytelling from a true genious Roald Dahl Disadvantages: You have to turn the tapes over to keep listening ...magical amd loving tale of Danny and his father. The audio book consists of two tapes each with two sides and runs for approximately 2 3/4 hours which took me three weeks to listen to at bedtime. The book is read by Timothy West who has got the most amazing voice that brings the story to life. The tape also features music designed to dramatise the events. The times said of Roald Dahl 'the most inventive and origional childrens writer of our times.' ... ...the pheasants owner and thereforewhen Danny finds out instead of being disgusted in his father he hatches a cunning plan which involves sleeping pills in order to steal the pheasants and embarrass the keeper the day before his big shoot. Fab couldnt put the book down Advantages: Its a really funny book to read Disadvantages: Gives children ideas This for me is an all time favourite of mine. Roald Dahl captures the life of a young boy who gets stuck looking after his gramdma who is a witchy person and never does anything for herself apart from sit in her chair by the window all day ordering people around.she orders George aound so much till he is sick to the back teeth of her and plans to get some form of revenge on her, when she asks him to make her a cup of tea he goes into the kitchen ... ...goes around the house throwing all different hair products into it, paint, chemicals, pet food, u name it and hes got it in the pan. he then boils it all up and pours it into his grandmas medicine bottle and gives her her daily doesage....within seconds things start to happen that you would expect to happen. the story lone is fantasic and i love reading this book time and time again,the chracters are so well discribed. overall i would recommend this ... "Hop, Skip and Sing Spanish" - learn Spanish with your baby! Advantages: A good help for parents with poor Spanish to start teaching their children Spanish from young age. Disadvantages: The book is a black and white, soft cover script of the CD - no use for children. I always wanted to teach my children Spanish from a very young age (even from birth). But my own Spanish leaves much to be desired. That is why I could never start in the right direction until I came across Ana Lomba's books. My older son was 2 years old when I purchased "Hop, Skip, and Sing Spanish." The first excercise from the book was the game when the child has to "walk... walk fast... walk slowly... run... jump... jump very high" all in Spanish ... ...(I was doing the exercise with him and it was very fun). After that we were eager to learn some other action songs and finger games in the book. Ana Lomba selected some rhymes and songs from the Spanish folklore, translated some of the English ones and also wrote some of her own and organised them in the order to build up children's vocabulary and practice over and over the words in different situations.
