Great Sound but useless with iPods
Advantages: Great sound and looks Disadvantages: Can't select iPod tracks or play podcasts. Takes ages to skip CD tracks.
...fantastic!
It's the typical Samsung design, gloss piano black, nice glass top on it, in frank, it looks stunning!
When you turn it on the buttons just appear on top of the unit, lighting up under the glass, it's all touch sensitive and works very well. The volume dial gets a nice red glow appear around it and a display appears on the front of the unit.
The front of the unit is also nice and clean, there is a small flap on the bottom which hides ... ...On the back of the system you have the 2 speaker connections, standard phono in sockets, a connector for the Ipod dock that is included and the socket for the radio aerial.
First things first. The unit has FM and DAB radio. I managed to get one station on DAB, but that is because the reception in the room I was in was rubbish. To get the one station I has holding the aerial in some very odd positions. When i did get a signal the radio was clear ...

a small box a BIG noise.
Advantages: small and smart Disadvantages: none
My partner bought me this stereo over a year ago, it's the best thing he's ever bought me.
I wanted something small to go on my kitchen worktop so that I can blast my music out, but after looking around we were suprised at the cost of small stereo's with a decent output power.
If you like music reasonably loud then it no good buying a stereo with anything less than 20 watts RMS per channel.
This one has 2 x 20 Watts RMS and 2 x 40 watts RMS.
... ...as you turn your stereo up, the music becomes distorted.
Not only is it compact, but not square, it has many features :
CD Player
Tuner/Radio
Tape Deck
Timer function
S.Bass Function
Automatic switch off
Preset Equilizer Selection
Remote Control
Auxillary input
Demo function
CD-R/CD-RW Playback
Programmable playback
store radio stations
You can play 12 or 8cm CD's without an adapter, and programme which tracks you would like to listen ...

Samsung MAX-B 420
Advantages: great sound quality and easy to use Disadvantages: cant switch off the alarm without the remote
...As ive said above, the samsung MAX-B 420 is really easy to use and can easily be used by anyone. There is 4 small blue buttons on the front that make it easy to switch between the radio, CD, tape and AUX with just the push of a button. The big volume control makes it easy to turn the volume up and down with just a twist of the control. The sound settings can also be changed from rock to pop to classic and also to psound which has heavy bass. All ... ...remote or the controls on the front of the system. However, the alarm function that is on the stereo can only be switched off using the remote control and cannot be switched off using the controls on the front of the stereo.
''Functions and functionality
There are several functions this stereo has that others don't. For example, the alarm and the 3 CD changer. The speakers are very powerful and have great sound quality. ...

Total Rubbish!
Advantages: Looks good, thats as far as i got. Disadvantages: It doesn't work!!!
I already have a Philips Streamium MCI500H hi-fi system, and I have been looking for a while for the prices to drop on the WAS6050. I had read that the sound quality was good, and I liked the square cube design of the product. With its small size, it would be ideal for my bedroom. When I discovered it for £69.95 at Richer Sounds (compare that with the prices on Ciao), I took the plunge. The main reason for buying the WAS6050 was because (as part ... ...wirelessly from the 160Gb hard drive on my Streamium MCI500H. However, it will also stream music from a pc if you don't have this hi-fi, and it will connect to the internet in it's own right so you can listen to internet radio... apparently... I say "apparently", because I never actually got it to work. Set up requires you to position the WAS6050 next to the MCI500H, in order that they can register with each other. This step was easy, and everything ...

The Very DAB
Advantages: Inexpensive, decent output for a bedroom or smaller room, mp3 capability Disadvantages: No good for a larger room due to the 5 watt output per speaker
Over the past year my daughter has really got into music in a big way, and I have posted a few reviews on some of the equipment I have purchased for her. She usually listens to music through her laptop or on her mp3 player, but just recently she has got into listening to the radio, so her little Philips boombox which I bought a few years ago, has been the favoured way of picking up her favourite station. Unfortunately she struggles to tune in different ... ...poor fine motor skills – and her autism means she isn’t the most patient of children either. I had tried suggesting she listened to the radio through her TV, which has Freeview built in, but once again the autism kicked in and she refused to use the TV as a radio, declaring this to be “stupid”. I decided therefore that I would buy her a DAB radio, hopefully with a CD player built in, and once again the internet was my friend as I did a little research ...
