Help for us poor parents and stressed kids
Review of Revisewise - KS2 SATs Revision by vurgo_gal

Advantages: Very clear and understandable
Disadvantages: I haven't found any so far

...forgotten. Then we find Revisewise and what a revelation! I consider myself fairly intelligent, gaining 7 O'levels and 2 A Levels in my younger days but I never remember things being so clearly and understandably explained as it is in the Revisewise site. I now understand scientific, mathematic and language concepts that seemed to pass straight over my head when I was 11, and having life experience now (obviously!) and having checked out the site, ...
...my daughter in order to give her practical experience behind the theories and concepts. The site is easy to navigate (and having a KS1 child doing SAT's as well this year it's a great help as she isn't greatly computer literate, as you can imagine) this is a big help. It is bright, interesting and very interactive. I would happily (and have) recommended this site to friends as a starting point for revision for their children and will continue to ... Read review

CGP revision guides GCSE AS/A2 level
Review of CGP Revision Guides by rocker_1990

Advantages: Funny (kind of) well layed out, compressed knowledge, price
Disadvantages: hard to understand,

...with a few jokes, with CGP if this suits you, then go for it. These revision guides saved me in terms of my A2 Chemistry and Physics last min revision (just thought i'd let you know!) The other thing about these is that they are reasonable priced if your school buys them in bulk then sells them to you, so that could be worth recommending to your teacher, or if you are a teacher, i've told you now! They are normally quite squashed on the pages, ... Read review

FROM 40% TO 90% IN ONE WEEK!
Review of The Student Support Centre by marylou2u

Advantages: Learning at your child's pace, comprehensive programme, concrete approach to child's learning.
Disadvantages: Cost.

...going through her workbook, explaining the homework and trying to instil some confidence in her abilities, every session ended in frustration, crying and me feeling completely helpless. After one short session I felt we were getting somewhere only to go to her room later and find her sobbing on her bed, she still didn't understand it. I felt I was going round in circles, the school curriculum was rumbling on before my daughter had thoroughly learned ...
...one for French. During the period whilst I was looking into a tutor, my daughter and I were out shopping at the village store when we saw a display for The Student Support Centre, I had never heard of this organisation so investigated further. The lady fronting the display explained a little about it and I agreed to have someone call to my house in a week or so to discuss further. I read through the literature in the meantime and talked it through ... Read review

Collins 'Do Brilliantly at AS Biology'
Review of Bitesize Revision Books - BBC by CookieCrumbs

Advantages: Includes topics for Human Biology As level courses, contains key points for each topic and past exam questions.
Disadvantages: Only 96 pages, doesn't go into that much detail.

Its that time of the year again, and most of us who want to do well in exams will be scouring the shops for good, yet relatively inexpensive, revision guides. However, revision material for certain subjects like Human Biology, Environmental Studies and ICT is usually harder to come by than others. At first glance, ‘Do Brilliantly at AS Biology’ appears to just cover the various AS Biology Syllabuses, but it actually contains many topics in the Human ...
...Circulation, Nucleic acids and Protein Synthesis. The book presents information clearly, in a friendly, attractive format. The books in greyscale, but don’t let this put you off, there’s plenty of diagrams and ‘cartoon’ style pictures to liven things up.(Its printed on nice glossy paper, in case that makes any difference to you!) Each Chapter starts with a past exam question and a students answer. The following pages then use the students answer, ... Read review

...trying it to anyone who has never spoken a language before or just wants to learn a new one! They cost quite a lot to buy so i'd just get one from the library and i wish you luck! Spanish is an easy language to learn and soon you'll be speaking it fluently! ... Read review
