This is an amended version of my original view to include more about the car itself.

My experience of Metro's comes from knowing many people who have owned them.

This particular model the 1.3 litre engine is probably one of the best models. Its economical but not too weak so you can actually drive up hills.

The first range of Austin Metros were released in 1981 billed as "A British car to rule the world" and although not quite living up to this slogan they have become very useful small vehicles.

They are based on the same design as the mini so perform pretty similar. However they have more space and are actually quite comfortable to drive and be a passenger in.

I would recommend this car to first time drivers and people with a low budget or as a 2nd town driving vehicle. They can be bought in good condition for around £400 and are normally easy to fix up if there are any problems.

The METRO car has gained cult status with many people and me and friends have gone as far to invent a game around this wonderful economic piece of machinery.

We are avid fans of the METRO car no matter which model or company it is. It is the perfect small car for any new driver.

A few years ago whilst my friend owned a METRO we invented a game for long journeys where you get points for spotting METRO's.

This game has since evolved and has become quite complex. You get points for spotting a METRO and there is a table which gives you different points for different METRO types. For Example a standard METRO gets 1 point. A special such as a convertable METRO gets you 3 and so on. You also get marked down for METROing a car which is not a METRO or METROing a METRO that has already been METROed.

This game is amazingly addictive and exciting and has been taken on by many people.

If you want a set of METRO rules then send a mail to mental@j-team.biz with WE WANT METRO RULES in the subject and he will be glad to send you the latest version.

Spread the word of METRO.

Hi, I've amended my rating slightly as I know you are waiting for Ciao to still move this...? or else you would have to write a liitle more consumer orientated experience of driving, owning and servicing the Metro..but other than that quite enjoyable read! -CH hope this is ok for now, later...

Hi, I've re-read and re-rated on your update/re-write - much better for including info about the car itself although still a little brief on detail. Cheers, BB :o)
