I'd originally heard of Ketsugo about 5 years ago through reading a magazine, it was being promoted as one of the best spot clearing treatments on the market but at the time £12.99 was expensive for a small bottle.
Now the price has lowered slightly and an offer on the product in one of the high street shops, these prompted me to give the prouct a try in time for my April wedding.
I suffer with spots due to polycystic ovary syndrome, having tried many rememdies on the market, I still remain a sucker for trying anything with a good reputation or anything new. My mission was to clear up back and shoulder spots, without bringing on dry skin.
This prosuct itself is available in a gel or spray formula. The packaging is good, the blue bottle is quite sturdy and you could confidently pack it in your suitcase for holidays without worrying about it splittling. The pump isn't stiff to use and it dispenses a good even amount of gel slowly. Instructions are clear and it does say that you will get results after 4-6 and the chemical used rebalances the oil glands in the skin rather than just unblocking the pores and soothing the skin. It recommends you use and Australian bpdy care body wah prior to using, I however didn't and I can't say it made any difference, I used an antibacterial supermarket wash & I am sure the result would be the same as whatever you used as long as the skin is clean and dry.
The gel has a slight fragrance, natural smell although I couldn't tell you what exactly it is, it is a smooth, non sticky gel. I would recommend that if you apply this to the body, you let it dry before dressing, I didn't and I had a stain on a white t-shirt that was stubborn to shift. With regards to application on the face, a little goes a long way and one squirt is enough, again wait for it to dry before doing anything, I once went out in the wind and it hurt!
I didn't see miracle results with this, I did notice that I did need to use on a daily basis, I initially tried every other day for 3 weeks but as I wasn't seeing results, I used it once a day after a shower, then I started seeing some improvment in the spot condition of my skin. At first it was the reduction in large yellow headed spots that went, it didn't initally touch the smaller spots. I still had both types of spts but on a much lesser scale, the spots weren't so painful and they were appearing lower down my back, where I couldn't always reach without the aid of my partner. After anbother 4-5 week I actually had a semi spot free back and shoulders. I still had some where the skin is naturally sweaty like under the bra strap, but again these were lesser than had been previously.
At the 9 week stage of application I had run out, I don't know whether I was overdoing the application because having spoken to family members who have used it since, their's have lasted far longer than mine did! As I was actually getting results and these results were begining to be consistent, I decided to buy another pump, again, I am seeing results on my shoulders which had been slow to start off with.
I am now on my 13th week of using Ketsugo, I am still applying it daily, it is very good at reducing spots whilst maitaining the skins moisture. I have no dry skin with the remedy unlike several I have tried. I intend to remain a user because of the results, I am hoping after my wedding and it's not so important to me, to reduce to using it every other day.
It is an expensive product compared to some but I have had real results on real problem skin, I only wish it could reduce scarring from previous outbreaks but that's not what this product is about., it's about being realistic with getting your spots gone, it's not about flase promises, it a wholly good product that I recommend with great esteem to anyboy with any type of spot/milder acne who want an effective product.
...tea tree face wash from australian bodycare (purchased for about £5 on ebay) as it recommends you use this too. I started to use this gel, as directed on the tube.. 'apply a thin layer onto oily ares of the skin. Allow to dry for 90 seconds. Do not rub in or wipe off.' I did this day and night, cleaning with the tea tree wash for 4 weeks and I have to use the words dissapointed... and miserable!
My skin had erupted into a nasty mess of big white ... ...was sore and they were so bad i couldn't cover them with makeup. It hurt to talk as my chin was so inflamed and covered in big painful beasty spots. This gel is formulated with isolutrol which is supposed to reduce the production of oil in your skin but in my case it made my spots worse. I didnt see any difference in my skin for the first few weeks but I then noticed the larger white spots around my nose after 3 weeks of using this product. I researched ...

Advantages: kind to skin, unfragranced, natural ingredients Disadvantages: This is not a cure for acne, you still need to use it occasionally even after your spots have gone
I was blessed with perfect skin up to the age of 17, then it went horribly, horribly wrong. I started getting one or two spots, and gradually this increased until my forehead was very spotty indeed.
This made me feel very depressed, I felt ugly. So, I toddled off to the doctors in the hope that he could give me a miracle cure and make my skin return to its previous state. He diagnosed me straight away as having moderate acne, and he prescribed me ... ...and apply twice a day. Using this lotion was a truly horrible experience. It had an awful smell that reminded me of a cross between mentholated spirit and nail varnish remover! After I had applied it my skin felt tight and it hurt me to smile because my skin was so dry and flaky. What’s more, even though it had dried out my skin, I still had spots!
So, I decided to stop using this cream and look for an alternative. I had seen a potion called ...

Ketsugo. It was never a name i'd heard of before, but my mum had been watching television (one of those morning shows like lk today or something) and had saw this product advertised. It was said to help clear up skin, and as she knew I was having problems in this area, she purchased it for me.
A childish looking bottle about 15cm high, with a squirty top was what i received. the word "ketsugo" scrawled up the side of the blue bottle, in green graffiti ... ...simplicity as one might expect skin care to have. but i suppose the designers reckoned they'd be targetting teenagers with acne, and not young professional women.
*** The Word ***
Well the official chat is that ketsugo is a breakthrough for acne sufferers. The exterior box proclaims "a clinically proven therapy for spot prone skin" the ingredient isolutrol works on the sebaceous glands, over 4-6 weeks, reducing the production of oil in the sebaceous ...

...They recommend you use Australian Bodycare tea tree oil face wash with the product, I didn't I used Superdrugs tea tree oil products although the Australian Bodycare range is supposed to be very good. Also Australian Bodycare actually make this gel so that is probably why they recommend it!
I bought this gel in Superdrug, it was £9.95 for the bottle. As far as I know you can't buy this in Boots (even in the larger stores) but you can in some independent ... ...small Superdrug). Ketsugo gel is also available in a spry formula for the same price. I don't know if this works as well as the gel as I have never tried it.
Ingredients in the product are...
Aqua, Sodium PCA, Sodium Scymnol Sulfats, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Ursa, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 60, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparraffin, Laureth-7
Instructions for use are...

Advantages: Non Bleaching Disadvantages: Expensive And Doesnt Work Quick Enough
Well call me inpatient if you like but i have been using Ketsugo Gel for just about two weeks now and am getting edgy already as i havent seen any results as yet.
Infact my skin actually looks worse right now than it did before i began.
Saying that though i have just stopped using Quinoderm Cream after a couple of years, mainly because my skin was just getting too oily and i wanted to stop the catch 21 situation of overydring my skin to be free ... ...by even more oil a few hours later.
So with a couple of sore red spots and a nice bit of oilyness i will continue with everything crossed that i can cross and hopefully soon i will see an improvemnt.
Afterall it is only two weeks i suppose and doctors do say to give most product 4-8 weeks to work but hey 4-8 weeks is a hell of a long time to those of us who have to put up with problem skin(i can hear you all shouting yeah too f***** right)
Anyway ...
