Tea Tree Oil, otherwise known as Melaleuca Alternifolia, is an underrated marvel of today’s world. It’s a shrub native to Australia, which, for thousands of years, was made into poultices and suchlike, by the Aborigines, for the purposes of healing wounds and other skin conditions. Nowadays however, you just pop to Superdrug, or QVC if you want a bargain in the old Tea Tree Oil department. One 25ml bottle contains the equivalent of four, 18 month old Tea Trees, which have been processed by steam distillation to remove the essential oil. ...I'm sure most of you have heard about or seen products containing Tea tree oil, but do you know what it is and how good for you it is? I first started using tea tree oil when my mother purcased a huge bottle of 100% pure tea tree oil after reading about the stuff somewhere. It acts as an antibacterial and antiseptic and can be used on its own or with other products for just about anything you could think of(except as incense oil, as I'll explain later!). It is fairly expensive stuff, but being a pure oil only a few drops are required so it lasts for ages. And compared to other oils, it's probably in the same sort of price range. I personally prefer using the oil rather than products containing it, such as shampoos, face washes and shower gels, because it means you can use as much of it you require, and for whatever purpose.
