Nicholas Sparks Is The Best Romantic Novelist.
Review of Nicholas Sparks by
DixieChick10
Advantages: Great writer, ability to make me sob.
Disadvantages: Nothing.
Nicholas Sparks got me back into reading again. At age 12/13 I was going through a stage when reading in my english class I would still a cosmo girl magazine in the middle and read that instead but then I got admitted into hospital and this lady offerd me "The Rescue". This is a true peice of romantic liturature. It made me smile, and made cry on one occasion but it's a book you just can't put down. The story reveleas many layers and is quite predicatable ... ...predictable, he does great romance novels but likes to have his readers sobbing by the end. I think "The Resue" was the only one I didn't cry in. He may be predictable, you always know something bad is going to happen, but he delivers them in so many ways. The second book I read was "The Notebook" which is ultimatley my favourite book. I've read all of his books except "Message In A Bottle", I stupidly saw the film first and hated it and have not ...

Entertaining but also Informative
Review of Susanna Gregory by
mogdred1
Advantages: Descriptive, funny, well written, quite gripping
Disadvantages: A bit silly at some points
Susanna Gregory is the pseudonym of a Cambridge academic and is the author of the very popular Matthew Bartholomew Chronicles, as well as the more recent Thomas Chaloner series.
The Matthew Bartholomew Chronicles are set in 14th Century Cambridge and follow the adventures of a doctor who is also something of a detective. The chronicles have run to 14 volumes so far and have been very well received.
The novels are very in-depth and go into a lot ... ...informative about the later era.
Overall I would defintely recommend Susanna Gregory if you want an enjoyable detective mystery which is also informative about other time periods. The novels are well written, humourous and I have to say quite gripping at some points, although a bit silly in others. ...

Nineteen Minutes - Jodi Picoult
Review of Jodi Picoult by
Spottydog11
Advantages: Touching story, great characters
Disadvantages: None
Jodi Picoult
Nineteen Minutes
Your son says the bullying was unbearable
But his revenge was murder
What would you do?
This statement is on the front of Nineteen Minutes, the Jodi Picoult's novel about the aftermath of a school shooting in a small town. It became her first book to debut at #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list.
I have read quite a few of Jodi Picoult's books now and I am a big fan. I did get a bit bored with one in the middle ... ...it excuse what he did? Jodi leads us on a path that almost makes us feel sorry for the shooter but doesn't quite cross us over into forgiving him. We also get the story from the perspective of his parents, his mother in particular.
I think whenever we hear about school shootings we always brand them and their parents monsters but we never really hear the parents stories and what they feel about this whole event, she humanises it and makes us think ...

The Blurb on the back is what first attracted me to this book. It reads:
Every minute of every day, a million things happen.
A butterfly flaps it's ... ...was feeling. Also I've read Meg Rosoff's first book and absolutely loved it to it seemed like this would be a good book for me.
This is a story about a 15 year old boy named David Case. He lives with his parents and baby brother Charlie in the small town of Luton.
