Review of Terry Pratchett by

Advantages: Amazing Author
Disadvantages: It takes time to write books
...actually brought into exsitence). Terry Prattchet is such a man.
Terry Prattchet novels have been my absolute favourite since i was introduce to his works be a friend about 6 years ago, since then i have read every book with awe as i marvel at his unique abaility to link fantsy events with real life things for example a crude discworld bomb consists of a swamp dragon (very small cat sized dragon) in a box with a covered mirror, to activate the bomb ... ...and nurtured
so that they each have seemed like they have actually been alive at some point in our lives.
I hope Terry Prattchet continues the discworld series for many years to come and to bring as much enjoyment to others as i have gotten from reading his work. ...

More Than Just a Pearl Earring
Review of Tracy Chevalier by
JoannaPiano
Advantages: Fascinating novels, interesting periods of history, entertaining reads.
Disadvantages: Burning Bright was a disappointment, but others might like it.
...with a Pearl Earring' by Tracy Chevalier. It was one of those books that really blew me away. I was captivated from start to finish. In fact, I didn't want it to finish, immersed as I was in the world that the author had created. When a writer has that effect on me I immediately want to read every word they've ever written and also learn more about the person behind the books. Now that I've steadily read my way through Tracy Chevalier's five published ... ...a few biographical details. Tracy Chevalier was born in Washington, D.C., in 1962. She majored in English at Oberlin College, Ohio, graduating in 1984. Soon afterwards she moved to London where she worked on editing reference books. After some success with short stories she left her job to study on the Masters course in creative writing at the University of East Anglia. There she was lucky enough to be taught by Rose Tremain and Malcolm Bradbury ...

Trudi Canavan
Review of Trudi Canavan by
JamieJCO
Advantages: Great writing, long books, trilogys allow in depth detail.
Disadvantages: Only 6 books!
Trudi Canavan is an Australian born fantasy writer. Her first full length published book was the "Magician's Guild", the first part of "The Dark Magician Trilogy". These books revolve around a slum girl Sonea and her difficult and unlikely rise up through the ranks of magicians, and her problems and adventures along the way. The trilogy comes to a climatic finish with the best book in the trilogy "The High Lord". The trilogy as a whole is a must ... ...is a better read than Trudi Canavan's previous trilogy. The second book "Priestess of the White" in my view is the highlight of Trudi Canavan's works so far. It should be noted that the trilogys can be (and were written to be) read independently. Over the course of Trudi Canavan's writing career she has received many accolades, and rightly so. Her books are of an extremely high standard and I highly recommend them to anyone. I await with anticipation ...

Terry Pratchett
Review of Terry Pratchett by
kingpin_penguin
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing
I LOVE Terry Pratchett's books. They are the ultimate in gut-bursting humour and would make the most derpessed people enjoy enjoy life to the full! He has a massive range of books for all ages. His childrens books range from world wars, to gaming to outer space. A delight to the younger imagination. They will keep a child silent for hours as they absorb the magic. The more mature series, The Diskworld books, are my personal favourate. Of course, ...

A Versatile Author!
Review of Tami Hoag by
DiamondCat
Advantages: great writing in two genres
Disadvantages: she won't lay off cheap romance
Tami Hoag is a best selling American author of suspense and romance novels. I can only comment on the suspense ones as I never read romance.
I first read one of her books, Cry Wolf, last autumn. I was very impressed and decided to read more and do some research on this author.
Before publishing her first book, a romance novel in 1988, she held various other jobs. After a number of love stories she moved on to crime writing. Hoag published thirteen ... ...been made into a TV miniseries. Due to her high profile success she also participated in one of Barbara Bush's literary function and was asked to read at it.
Here is a quick overview of her work, afterwards I will mention which ones I'm familiar with. Independent crime Novels
- Still Waters (1992) - Dark Paradise (1994)
- A Thin Dark Line (1997) - Dark Horse (2002)
- Kill the Messenger (2004)
- Alibi Man (2007)
Kovac/Liska Series
