Manufacturer's product description
Autodesk Civil Design 2004 expands the power of Autodesk Land Desktop 2004 with tools to automate the tasks associated with typical civil engineering procedures. This software enhances the collaborative work environment for transportation engineering, site development, hydrology, and hydraulics projects. Autodesk Civil Design 2004 works in concert with Autodesk Land Desktop 2004 to help you design, analyze, and draft sanitary and storm drain systems; evaluate and refine complex grading scenarios using powerful objects that react automatically to design changes; work interactively between plan, profile, and sectional designs to solve road engineering challenges; apply design rules, transitional strings, and sectional criteria when designing all details of a road; and design roads more quickly and intelligently, using the new Vertical Alignment Editor, and superimpose profile functions. Autodesk Civil Design software helps you with everything from plan, profile, and section drawings to calculating surface-water runoff. You can create drawings for drainage structures or evaluate and refine complex grading scenarios. Or you can design all the details of a road quickly and intelligently with the enhanced Vertical Designer, which provides direct interaction between graphical selections, visual confirmation, engineering analysis and comparison to design criteria, and flexible report generation. Autodesk Civil Design 2004 automates the creation of surface models and contours for greater efficiency on any road project. The enhanced Road Output feature helps you create a surface and its associated data directly from a road design. You can also create 3D polylines to represent the cross section or linear nature of a design and a boundary representing the extent of influence of a road on its surroundings. Autodesk Civil Design 2004 is seamlessly integrated with Autodesk Land Desktop 2004 software, which provides point management, terrain modeling and contouring, and alignments and parcels. And Autodesk Land Desktop is built on the solid foundation of AutoCAD 2004, the latest release of the world's most popular CAD software, helping you communicate with land-planning colleagues wherever they're working.
Advantages: alot of tools. Disadvantages: cost, takes awhile to get used to features
...Has a web designer this is one program that i use. This is very user friendly, and even beginners can use this. You really could have fun with this.
The features on this is very good, you can do things like cropping photos,desaturate/change color of pictures, eraser, clone stamp, magic wand, the list is endless.
Myself using this i have managed to design lots of forum websites, edit my own photos.(you can do virtually anything with this image wise.
There is even a help menu which if you get stuck or have a problem you can look there for help and not somewhere else.(all in one place.)
If you get stuck for ideas in making stuff in this program there are many graphics sites out there that gives out a lot of information/tutorials for free
The manual that comes with this is very easy to understand.
I feel that the cost of this product may...

Advantages: Plenty of options, able to import many formats, straight forward use Disadvantages: Not cheap, can install slow on older machines
...Having used InDesign since version 1, it is fare to say that with every release Adobe have improved and enhanced this product.
InDesign is a good competitor to the industry standard DTP package Quark, plus, thanks to CS2 and CS3, it is a good competitor to both Microsoft Publisher - and Word.
Primarily this is a publishing and designpackage, allowing you to create the layout for books, magazines, leaflets, etc. Not to mention CD/DVD covers, cases and inlays, plus calenders, certificates, brochures.
Bundled with Adobe Bridge, you have easy access to stock photography (excellent when you need a photo of a someone eating a cake) plus plenty of templates to get you going with you next design assignment.
The most predominant difference between CS2 and CS3 is the layout of the software.
The layout of the user interface is in...

Advantages: easy to use, great tips and advice Disadvantages: a very basic designing software package
...This is a fantastic package for designing your own cross stitch patterns. Its quick and esy to set up and use. The biggest downside for me was trying to chart from a scanned in photo, whilst the chart was clear and easy to read the automatic colour selections were quite a way of th eorigonal photo. For example a black dog was charted in variations of dark purples. That could have been my scanner or more likely the software involved in the program.
However it is a good program to use if you are new to designing or just want to play around with ideas.
The software also allows you to see how your design will look on different colour fabrics, you have the option to chart your design in colour blocks or black and white symbols.
The extra charts included are quite good although they are quite basic...
