The nice thing about QVC is that they give you tons of information on the products. After an hour with Alison Young (the QVC beauty expert) it became obvious that my daughters and I had been depriving ourselves all these years. We must immediately try these products!
We waited for our first parcel with bated breath. We had ordered a trial pack of the Aveda Colour shampoos. There are five of them in the range. Blue Malva (supposed to be the business for grey or blonde hair),Camomile, which is also for blonde hair but gives slightly different tones, Clove , for brunettes, to give honey tones, Black malva which is for affro-carribbean hair or very dark hair and Madder Root which brings out the red tones in your hair.
I am going to tell you about Madder Root, which is my personal favourite.
Firstly, I like the ethos of this company which uses natural ingredients and no petrochemicals. Petrochemicals, apart from anything else, leave a build up on your hair which strips and dulls it.
The shampoo comes in an attractive beige bottle and in three sizes; 250ml, 500 mls and 1 litre. I would suggest that if you buy the one litre size (which lasts me about six months) that you buy a pump dispenser to go with it. It will set you back about 99p and I think they should throw one in, but they don't so you need to just grit your teeth and hand over the dosh! It is a one off purchas though, mine has lasted for four years!
So, more about the shampoo: The ingredient list is lengthy and to most of us, meaningless! I will list only the main ingredients below; this in the assumption that the ingredients were listed in priority order!
Red Clover Aloe Almond and cherry bark Ammonium lauryl sulphate Lauramide DEA Cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine
Now, how many of you are any the wiser? If you are then you are a better man or woman than me!!
Aveda say that this is not a colouring shampoo but it is a colour enhancer. I will tell you that the difference it makes to my hair colour is very marked. They also do a matching conditioner which does put colour in.
This is a vegetable colour and is totally natural. The shampoo is a lovely consistency and is an amber colour, not ever so thick.Don't expect masses of frothy lather. If you try too hard you will get through the bottle far too quickly. Remember, this is concentrated and a premium product- none of your cheap supermarket own brand, so it isn't especially cheap. Yes, yes, I will get on to the prices in a minute!
It has a pleasant smell which is a bit herby. It rinses out easily and leaves no residue. It is so mild and conditioning that you can get away without conditioner if you wish.
The first time I used it I was staggered at the difference it made. I have curly hair, loose curls not toilet brush, and it tends to be very dry. It immediately had a wonderful shine and colour. It was soft and easy to style as well. This can sometimes be a problem with other products! It also had a really pronounced auburn sheen- lovely! My girls were similarly pleased with the other colours which they tried. We have used the products ever since, although not exclusively. I can always tell an immediate improvement whenever I go back to it. It is just great and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Now, if you want to give it a go where can you obtain it?
Normally, QVC is an option and they sometimes have it as a Today's Special Value. I have just been to the website to check the price and the only Aveda product they have today is the "Aveda Colour Starter System". This is a good way to try the product and see if you like it. For £16.36 + p&p you get: 1 wide tooth comb 50ml hair detoxifier (a shampoo which removes styling products and chlorine- especially good before using dye) 50 ml Firmata hair spray 50 ml colour shampoo of your choice
You can also buy Aveda products in Debenhams. They sometimes do good deals as well. I also discovered it on Lookfantastic. Without the member discount it is : £7 for 250 ml £20 for a litre.
Here is the web address: www.lookfantastic.co.uk
Here's hoping to see loads of pics on profile pages with lovely glossy hair!

Advantages: Good Shine, Natural Products Disadvantages: None
...success. When I first saw Aveda on QVC about 4 years ago and decided to try the Shampure. It was amazing the different I noted straight away, my hair had more shine and didnt feel as dry anymore. Another good thing about the Aveda products is I swim a lot. I have tried different swimming shampoos but all of them my hair still felt strawy afterwards. All the Aveda shampoos work brilliantly after swimming and it feels just like your hair normally does.
... ...good they looked when I went to have them redone.
Although Aveda products may seem expensive initially you dont need to use too much and it lasts for ages whereas cheaper supermarket brands tend to only last a month or so. I definitely think Aveda is worth every penny. ...

Advantages: Gives fantastic results. Disadvantages: Available in selected stores & salons only
...before. So having used many Aveda products in the past I decided to peruse the shelves of my local Aveda shop (Brighton). I ended up purchasing the Madder Root Shampoo, £19 for a 1 litre bottle (pump extra £1+) & the Madder Root Colour Conditioner £16 for a 200g tube, both of which are recommended to enhance red & brown shades of hair. A sample of the shampoo can also be purchased for around £3.
The packaging for both is mainly a beige colour with ... ...also have a red plant motif on. A list of directions and ingredients are listed on the reverse of each product. The liquids of both the shampoo and conditioner are bright red and the consistencies nice and thick. On mixing with water, they lather beautifully. A small amount does go a long way and you can smell the gorgeous plant based ingredients, which have been used to make them. Rinsing is achieved with minimal effort and my hair is left lovely ...

after having my hair permanently colour treated a few times and having a semi permanent tint which i hated the colour of, i decided to try aveda's madder root shampoo and conditioner as an alternative to highlights because i found they dried my hair out too much making it tangle very easily. i've been really pleased with the results. my hair is much softer and shinier than with permanent colour and the shampoo really brings out the red shades in ...

Aveda have a reputation for good products but you do feel in this case that they've done well for themselves. If you have high maintenance colour, as anyone with red shades understands, then this'll ease the pain and maintain the colours in your hair like no other product can! ...

Advantages: Gives colour back - and then some. Totally natural looking. Disadvantages: Tip: Remember to wear plastic gloves when applying - even though there are no problems with washing it off.
Aveda's MadderRootShampoo and Conditioner is wonderful for us red heads who have never dared to attempt to dye their hair in the past due to all the horror stories of red hair turning green when attempts were made to dye it !!!
This temporary colour wash-in removes the hassle of actually dying your hair and then having to constantly go back to the hairdressers to retouch the roots.
The product smells wonderful and as Aveda's reputation is known the world over, you know that you really can't go wrong.
As I have got older my natural red hair has gone slightly dull and recently has lost some of its shine.
I saw Aveda on QVC and as they provide a 30 day money back guarantee I figured I had nothing to lose so I ordered the MadderRootshampoo and conditioner.
This product gives my hair wonderful rich red tones which has added ...

My first experience with their products was when my Mother-in-law-to-be included a sample bottle of their Hydrating Lotion in my Christmas stocking one year. I was converted to this lurvely brand when I woke up 13 hours after first applying it and still had that super-soft feeling on my skin as if I has just come out of a mineral spa. Obviously with an experience this good with one product, I was left very well disposed towards the brand in general.
