Aveda products are available in most larger towns and cities in the UK now, sometimes in hair & beauty salons but mostly from department stores and internet etc.
Originally a haircare range, using only pure, natural ingredients, the range covers just about everything anyone needs for their beauty regime.
The haircare is in my opinion second to none. The smell, the feel of the hair and the way you can subtly change the colour is wonderful. I have heard people say that they hated the way it made their hair feel at first, lank and greasy. However, I think this is due to the fact that we coat our hair with so much gunk these days that the hair has to have time to adjust to Aveda. Most of the critics did say that they perservered and loved it within a few days. My favourite products, 'Blue Malva' anything! I'm a natural blonde and it makes my hair look like it cost me a fortune!
The Skincare range is also made from pure ingredients. The range is increasing all the time and becoming more sophisticated. I still prefer to use the original basic skincare items. My favourite item is the exfoliant. It really refreshes the skintone.
The Bodycare is a real treat. The aromas are so original, relaxing or invigorating ( I buy both!) Try 'Hand Relief'& 'Foot Relief' - the best handcream and foot cream on the market. They leave your skin so smooth and soft.
Aveda make-up is great for those of us who prefer to enhance our natural look rather than apply a heavy 'stage' look. There are lots of lovely natural hues and tones but then there are also a few bright, loud colours to take you into party time. I love the Sepia eye pencil and mascara. The lippies taste really good and keep your lips nice and moist.
Finally the 'Pure-fume'. Not perfume! These are very unusual aromas, and when you go to select one, make sure you have plenty of time. The process you are advised to follow allows you to use your senses and your mood to find the right one for you. I find that I have my favourites, but sometimes depending on how I feel I may go off one for a while. They used to do a tin of chakra aromas, which means you choose the right one on a daily basis.
You can also have aromas added to your hair and body products, creating your own signature fragrance.
Aveda isn't the cheapest on the market, but is definitely worth it. Beware, you will get hooked - and you will need to fix a lock on your bathroom cabinet to stop others in your household from using it!
Also look out for any literature on the company. They are heavily involved in sustaining the environment and have written lots of interesting articles about this subject.

Advantages: Gives colour back - and then some. Totally natural looking. Disadvantages: Tip: Remember to wear plastic gloves when applying - even though there are no problems with washing it off.
