I have used Aveda's Shampure on and off for years, and have also recommended it to many friends and family members. It smells wonderful, slightly spicy and fresh, presumably due to the flower and... more

After reading several glowing opinions on Ciao about the wonders of Aveda, I took my credit card on a bit of a spending spree to ‘Lookfantastic.com’! Like I need an excuse to spend??!! My hair promises the ultimate challenge for most shampoos – its long and extremely thick – which means its extremely prone to knots! I have lost count of the times that I have sat with tears streaming down my cheeks struggling to get rid of the knots! Ultimate challenge hair means that I need an ultimate shampoo and conditioner. The Shampure range by Aveda promises to be ‘above and ... more

Have you ever fancied washing your hair with an aroma-therapeutic blend of twenty five pure flower and plant essences? Well, if you use Aveda’s best selling shampoo 'Shampure' then this is exactly what you will be doing. I am a big fan of the Aveda range of shampoos and conditioners and, since I was introduced to Shampure a few years ago, it has become one of my favourite shampoos. ~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Background ~ For those of you unfamiliar with them, Aveda is an American company and manufactures a premier range of salon quality products and exclusive blends. I’ve often looked at Aveda products in department stores and wondered what they were like but, despite being a beauty junkie, I had never actually parted with cash for any of their products. However a few weeks ago a friend and I were doing our usual once-a-month wander around HN (Harvey Nichols) in Leeds when we came across the Aveda counter. My friend happened to comment on how good the products were. Now, I have tried practically every shampoo going from Boots own to Aussie, from Original Source to Korres and I have not found anything that makes my hair look, or feel, drastically any ... more

Advantages Advantages Available online, natural ingredients, 1 litre sizes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Strong fragrance, drying, expensive

I confidently took the plunge and invested in a bottle of Shampure following the rave reviews it seems to have received universally. It seemed a reliable bet to give myself a treat. The context (i.e. my hair type) is normal to dry and the challenge for any shampoo I use is that I wash it frequently, I swim and I need a shampoo that can cope with getting rid of things like chlorine without stripping back the oils in my hair completely. Bearing in mind I used this product in conjunction with the Shampure conditioner, I was hoping that flower power could cope rather than feeling as though I ... more

If the thought of reading an opinion which contains graphic details of Sex and Nudity offends you, and I am certain that there must be some people out there who would take exception then please read on because apart from the fact that my sex is male and that I generally partly strip to wash my hair, you could safely read this opinion to your grey haired old granny without blushing. It merely goes to show that in the best traditions of ciao, you have been conned into reading another boring boring opinion on shampoo. An opinion I may add that I would not normally dream of writing had not Tracey ... more
