If the thought of reading an opinion which contains graphic details of Sex and Nudity offends you, and I am certain that there must be some people out there who would take exception then please read on because apart from the fact that my sex is male and that I generally partly strip to wash my hair, you could safely read this opinion to your grey haired old granny without blushing. It merely goes to show that in the best traditions of ciao, you have been conned into reading another boring boring opinion on shampoo. An opinion I may add that I would not normally dream of writing had not Tracey (Moose) thrown down the gauntlet and challenged me to do it.
My wife (bless her) is an avid fan of QVC (bless them) and if they say something is worth buying, she is right behind them all the way. This is how we were introduced to an American company called Aveda. They manufacture what is loosely called “salon products” and these naturally include shampoo. The best selling of these is a shampoo called “Shampure.” According to Aveda, this contains no less than 25 flower and plant essences including organic petitgrain and ylang ylang, and is intended to make the process of washing your hair an aromatherapy experience. ( I don’t believe I am writing this stuff.) The shampoo itself is designed to be suitable for all types of hair, so no need to check for dry, brittle, or greasy (horrible name for hair), as in this case one shampoo does all. The actual fragrance is lovely but difficult to describe. I can smell lavender and rosemary, but there are other scents that hint at the further ingredients.
I find that in the case of “Shampure” a little goes a very long way. It only takes the smallest of amounts to get a really good lather and as I said earlier, the smell is out of this world. I actually tried a little out on the dog one day, and he smelled like a bed of roses for days after.
The only problem that I can see with this shampoo is its price. A 250 ml bottle costs about £7. We somehow ended up with a 1-litre bottle from QVC (bless them) costing £20. This sounds expensive but as my wife (bless her) explained to me, when you work out just how much shampoo you are actually getting for your money, it makes Shampure very competitive with other leading brands, and you are getting a top of the market product at the same time.
Speaking for myself, (and I am unanimous in this), apart from the nice smell, the nice squeaky-clean hair and the dog I can take into anyone’s house, I probably would put up with a shampoo “off the shelf.” However I must bow to the majority, and here I include my wife (bless her), daughters and grandchildren, who insist that Shampure is the best shampoo on the market.
Further details on the range of products that Aveda produce can be found at www.aveda.com and of course on QVC (bless them) where demonstrations can be seen on a regular basis, as my bank manager can testify.
Aveda also make an excellent conditioner, but that is one opinion I think I will keep to myself…….OK Tracey?
