For my first son I used disposable pads and found that I was spending around £8.00 a week on them. For my second son I decided to buy the washable breast pads from avent. I bought 4 sets of 6 pads for around £5 each. I used them when I first started leaking milk at 20weeks pregnant and found they saved me a great deal of money as they did the job. When my baby was born and the milk came in I had a shock as I fond the absorbancy was inadequate for my needs. As soon as my son cried or I thought about feeding, even if they were fresh on, I found they leaked. I changed to johnsons dis[osable pads and havent looked back since. They absorbaed a great deal more and when out and about I could dispose of them easily and not have to carry around wet pads.

Another negative for these are they can be seen clearly through any tightish clothing. With disposable they go thinner as they get to the edge but with these they were the same thickness throughout and this showed clearly.

I feel these are very good if you do not over produce or when leaking prior to the birth and when stopping feeding, but for those who produce milk well there are better options.
