ANTI-COLIC - Listen for the gentle sound and watch the air bubbles burst on the surface of the milk. That's your guarantee that the air is being released into the bottle - NOT into the milk or your baby's tummy. It's the air babies swallow during feeding that can cause painful colic. EXTRA SOFT, NATURAL SHAPE TEAT - Encourages baby to open the mouth wide and literally latch-on and suckle, similar to when breastfeeding. MY STORY I breast fed both my sons for their first years. When my eldest son was 11 months old and I wanted to switch to bottle feed I was really confused. I was told by many mothers the risk of developing colic conditions with bottle feeds. It was then that my husband bought Avent feeding bottles from Mothercare. The thing which attracted us both was the unique shape of the bottle and the assurance that our baby is getting the next best thing to the breast and that it reduces the risk of colic. I started using it and thus became the biggest fan of Avent bottles. Both my sons have been using Avent to date and I have never ever had any problems with that. Now I cannot even imagine any other brand for my kids.
AVENT FEEDING BOTTLES We all believe that breast milk is the best nutrition for our baby and that as long as he or she is breast feeding our baby is in healthy and safe hands. But it is not always possible to breast feed, sometimes either the mothers are not too well or too busy to follow this God gifted procedure. What ever the reason we Mums always want the very best for our babies and I believe that every mother has a right to make her own personal decision as to how to feed her baby. This is where Avent come in. AVENT radically redesigned the baby bottle to closely resemble the natural feeding process and give mothers the freedom to combine breast and bottle-feeding with ease. They can be used conveniently to give expressed breast milk as well as formula. Avent teat is designed in such a way so as to reduce any risk of air swallowing because it allows your baby to suckle continuously, hence copying the function of breast. Air swallowing leads to painful colic.
SHAPE AND SIZE When my younger one was born my friend brought a set of feeding bottles as a gift , they were nice feeding bottles of regular shape and size of some other good brand and I must say that I did used them once in a while. But to tell you the truth I have always preferred Avent bottles over those specifically because Avent bottles are easy to clean and to fill in as well because of its very wide neck. Being little short and stout these bottles sometimes do not fit easily in nappy bag pockets and sterilizers. The bottle is clearly marked with accurate measurements. Separate sealing discs do not come with Avent bottles because you do not need them. To guarantee leek proof mixing the dome cap seals the teats securely
AVAILABILITY They are available in 3 sizes. i-e; 125ml, 260 ml and 330 ml. And all sizes are available in twin and triple packs. These bottles are easily available at Asda and Tesco.
PRICE They do not come cheap but they are worth it. A singe 260ml bottle is worth £2.78. A twin pack of 125ml Avent bottle is around £4 and a triple pack of 260ml bottle is around £7.80 at Asda.
All AVENT products are designed to work with each other and it is the only brand to offer a complete range of interchangeable products. These bottles are made in England.
Advantages: wide neck and different teats avaliable Disadvantages: none so far
...aswell to use with my AVENT breast pump and as these bottles screw directly onto the pump I hadn't even thought about buying another brand apart from AVENT. My aunt had used AVENT with her babies and so had more or less everybody else who I knew with children... * Wide neck for easy filling
* Comfy to hold
* Tough and durable
* Clear markings in fl and ml
* AVENT breast pump fits directly onto bottle
* Small and Large versions avaliable (4 & 9 oz)
* Can buy handles to attatch so baby can feed themselves
* Can buy Teats to suit baby's needs (1 is slowest, through to 4 fastest) * Can buy a soft spout to teach baby to drink from a beaker
* Easy to clean
* Microwavable

Advantages: Babies actually seem to like them, easy to clean, lots of accessories available so they can last you for many years Disadvantages: none
I started using Avent bottles with my son, George, he was breastfed but I used the Avent breast pump (which you can attached directly to the feeding bottle) to express off some milk. I started him getting used to a bottle early (2 weeks old) he took to the bottle straight away. These bottles are apparently like sucking from the breast for a baby and George certainly had no problems.
You can buy all sorts of accessories to use with the bottles, ie ... ...breastfed babies (as breastfed babies can get addicted to bottles and go off the breast as the bottle is easier to get the milk from!) training spouts and also the new magic cup which the lid will fit directly onto the bottle (like the anyway up cup, with no spills, except you can actually get the liquid out without sucking excessively!). You can also buy handles to encourage your baby to drink from it themselves. The accessories are widely available ...

Advantages: Wide Neck Bottles, very well made and they can withstand just about anything. Disadvantages: No disadvantages with the bottles themselves, but slightly more expensive than other brands.
...for my daughter, and found AVENT bottles by far the best on the market!!
Avent bottles can be steralised by both cold water and microwave, and are tough enough to withstand constant steralisation by the microwave without inpairing the fluid measurements clearly marked!! I also found that unlike some other brands I had tried and mainly melted, these bottles are tough and very robust even when they are dropped by accident!!
I have only had one leakage ... ...top on it correctly.
Avent sell a number of accesories as well as replacement parts for their bottles. For instance you can convert the bottles into a trainer cup by purchasing the handle and a spout attachment. Its handy to remember that all bottles are supplied with clear silicone teats in a slow flow, which is ideal for newborns or when changing from breast feeding. Remember as your baby gets older to change to the medium, or fast flow teats ...

Advantages: Wide variety Disadvantages: Little more expensive
...find an opinion page for Avent in general so i have had to write about it on here.
Now where do i start, firstly there are the Avent bottles (around £8.50 for 3) they have wide necks and are incredibly comfotable to hold whilst feeding you baby. The bottle cap sits tightly on the locking ring and therefore there are no leeks whilst carring them to and from journeys (good for when you have that all important spare set of baby clothes inside the bag ... ...of filling). There are also Avent disposable bottles.
They have a wide variety of teats starting from newborn to vari-flow all which are hard wearing and are good for first time mums who like me didnt have a clue as to what teat i should be using as other brands normally only have 3 types of teats, slow, medium and fast flow.
Avent also have the Avent magic cup with a small soft spout ideal for little mouths which can be used from around 3 monts ...

...and accessories. I have found Avent to be by far the best brand on the market.
Are very easy to clean you do not need to use a bottle brush as they are wider than other bottles. I just use a sponge with very minimal effort
**Advantages**
They are clincally proven to reduce colic in babies- My daughter is 8 months has used nothing but Avent bottles and has never suffered from this
I have never found them to leak
You do not have to use bottle ... ...approx £6. For two 9ox Avent bottles the price is approx £5
Are wider than other brands of bottles on the market so you would have to buy the any accessories if needed from avent

Another good thing is with Avent they normally have alot of special offers on. For instance when buying there Microwave steriliser. I had a choice of recieving two free 9oz bottles or dummies. I choose the dummies, but because they were not in stock I recieved ...

Advantages: easy to clean. Disadvantages: Leaking issues if not put together correctly.
The Avent Airflex bottles come in two sizes 4oz and 9oz. When I started to bottlefeed my daughter I bought the 4oz bottles which just over a month later I regretted as my little girl was wanting more than 4oz a feed which meant that I had to buy 9oz bottles instead.
CLEANING
The bottles come apart into 4 pieces, the bottle itself, the teet. the screw ring and the lid. The bottle is very easy to clean when using a bottle brush, if you dont have one then you will find it very hard to get your hand to the bottom of the bottle to wash it out properly. As for the teet, you need to make sure that you get inside the rim of it which I found is easier to do with a sponge rather than a brush but other than that the bottles are very quick and easy to wash.
LEAKING ISSUES
When I first started to use these bottles I ...
Advantages: much easier to clean, feels more natural Disadvantages: wider bottles sometimes dont fit in smaller holders
. This system fits in excellently for those mothers wishing to combine breast and bottlefeeding. This is because of the unique shape and quality of the product which does indeed reduce colic as the product indicates. My babies had no problem switching from breast to bottle and back again! I thoroughly recommend these bottles to all, not just those who want to combine feeding, I for one will be using them for the next baby!
This system is brilliant for your growing baby/toddlers. It has further attachments for little hands and mouths. The first attachment is easy-grip handles, which simply clip around the neck before you screw on the teat locking ring. Further 'add-on's include soft spouts and leak proof 'feeding cup' type spouts. All the add-ons fit with all the Avent range. Its all mix and match!
Although these bottles are not ...
Advantages: Portable, practical, quick and hassle free sterilising Disadvantages: Cycle can take up to six minutes with older microwaves
INTRODUCTION
One of the more tedious chores when you have a new baby is sterilising bottles and other feeding and nursing equipment. With our first child, we invested in an Avent Microwave Steam Steriliser rather than an electronic version ? mainly because of its portability and ease of use ? and we were quite pleased with it. Babies need the stuff they use sterilised to ensure their immune system doesn?t have to work overtime to fight off any nasty bugs that may be lurking on it. Although a thorough wash in the sink with hot water makes equipment cosmetically clean, you need really high temperatures to kill off the hardier bacteria and viruses. I retrieved our old Avent Steriliser from the attic, but despite a thorough clean before we stored it, it looked a little worse for wear. As such, we decided to buy the new, upgraded ...
