5 Stars TINY PUMP, BIG RESULTS! Review with images 13/03/2004

Advantages Advantages very easy to clean, extremely portable, convenient, quiet, discreet, attractive bag

Disadvantages Disadvantages Your hands will get sore, stimulator falls off easily breaking seal, Takes practice, can be hard to put together at first.

As my son was born 7 weeks premature he spent the first few weeks of his life being tube fed therefore when the time came for me to breast feed - he refused. I had been expressing my milk, every 2-3 hours and storing it in the fridge so he could be given my milk as and when needed. I had been given the use of a hospital electric pump during his time in the Neo Natal unit but it soon came time for him to go home and I was pump less. First, I tried a Medela Electric Pump, which the hospital district nurse brought over on a home visit. This is the type they use in the hospitals. I thought, "This ... more

Advantages Advantages Reasonably priced, easy to clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fiddly Assembly, seal requires regular reattaching

Although I had prepared myself for the fact I might not be able to breastfeed when my twins were born, it was a bit of a panic when I realised they would not latch on yet I still wanted to express milk but had not bought a breast pump. Because we were in hospital for 5 days I couldn't just pop out to the shops and get one so my mum was entrusted with the job of getting something relatively cheap but was easy to use but effective which is how I came about owning the Avent Isis Manual Breast Pump. ***Avent Isis Breast Pump*** The Avent Isis Breast Pump is a manual breast pump which allows you to ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, reliable brand

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still more work than breastfeeding

When I had my second daughter in December, I was determined to breastfeed exclusively for as long as I could. I did not manage this with my first daughter, more through lack of knowledge and support than anything else. As most mums know though, this is exhausting as your partner is unable to help with feeds. After reading many reviews, we decided that expressing milk when I was really tired would be the answer, and after much deliberation, we settled on the Avent Isis breast pump. We are big fans of Avent products so were confident that this product would be worth the extra cost when compared ... more

Advantages Advantages Gets really good results

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can squeak and creak a bit!

I bought an Avent Isis breast pump as part of the Back To Work Kit (see separate review) but I think that it deserves a review all its own! You can buy this pump separately from places such as Mothercare for £25. It comes as eight parts, including the covers to keep it sterile for travel and you can use it with the other thngs in the Avent range, not just the bottles (it works with the Via Cup and Magic Cup), which makes it really flexible. To clean, assemble and use the breast pump can be a bit fiddly, but with practice it's second nature. My son's five months old and I've been expressing ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

INTRODUCTION I was planning on breast feeding baby before he was born, although I never kept to it with my youngest child when he was born. I was determined to keep to it this time around. Although the only downside to that was my partner was unable to feed baby, so getting a breast pump was going to take away the downside and my partner is able to feed baby. Let me tell you more about the pump. ABOUT THE PUMP The avent breast pump is a manual pump that helps to express milk for bottle feeding, there is no discomfort in using the pump although if you do have tender breast then I wouldn’t ... more
