I got my first Avent magic cup free when I purchased the Avent Steam Steriliser. It sat in my cupboard for sometime until the time came to start introducing extra fluids to my baby boys diet when he was around 5 months.
The cup I had was suitable for 3 months plus and held 70z or 200ml of fluid. It was bright yellow with a blue screw top. Inside the screw top was a removable spout, which is quite soft and underneath that is the Magic Valve, which allows air to flow into the cup whilst the liquid flows out. All that is topped off with a snap on lid to keep the spout clean. It did not have handles but these can be purchased separately (If I remember rightly they are around £2.99 for a pack of two) if required.
I had tried the cup myself and it did seem to take quite a bit of sucking to get anything out but I offered it to my little one who showed absolutely no interest in it whatsoever!
Maybe it is just this cup I thought so off I went in search of a non-spill cup that Alex could drink from. I now have a collection of cups in various designs and bright colours – none of which Alex would drink from successfully. Eventually I went back to the Magic cup and hey presto he managed to drink from it so we have stuck with it ever since.
We have now moved on to the 6-month plus model, which is slightly larger holding 9oz or 260ml of fluid. It is the same as the 3-month plus model except that it has a toddler spout, which is as little harder, and I think requires less sucking. I did buy a packet of handles but they were hardly ever used and sit with the huge collection of useless baby purchases I have made over the past year.
The Magic cups retail for around £3.99 but they do seem to be hard to find. I got mine from Babies-r-us and I have seen them in Boots although I think it is only the larger stores that stock them.
The valve can be a little fiddly to assemble but as mothers we are used to putting together and taking apart things like this so it should present no problem. All parts can be put in the dishwasher or sterilised using any method. The screw top is also designed to fit all the other Avent products so you could screw an ordinary bottle to the top if you wished or attach your Avent breast pump to it to express milk directly into the cup. If you can’t find a magic cup lid (as is often the case) you can always use one of your Avent bottle caps instead.
We have never experienced any spills or leaks using the magic cup and personally (having tried a few cups myself) it is a lot easier to drink from than any of the other cups currently on the market.
One final point about the Avent Magic Cup is that it is approved by the British Dental Health Foundation. A lot of the non spill cups available are just as bad for our children’s teeth as sucking on a bottle so anything that can reduce the risks of tooth decay scores point with me.
Advantages: Interchangeable parts with bottles too, Very durable Disadvantages: Valves don't last very long, do sometimes leak.
...out! So we bouhgt some Avent cups.
We paid £5 for 2 9oz cups with handles from a supermarket (I think it was Morrisons/Safeway)
The cups dismantle into the cup part, the handles, the twisting lid, the spout and the valve which is 2 pieces.
The cup, handles, lid and half the valve are hard plastic. The teat and the other part of the valve are softer plastic/rubber. The valve works by not allowing anything to leak from the spout unless sucked. Unlike ... ...interchangeable and also fit the avent bottles which we have found handy as we have sometimes used the handles on the milk bottles.
The cups appear to comfortable for the kids to hold and the spout sppears to fir neatly in their mouth and easy to drink from.
Overall these cups are the best I have found but are still not perfect but the kids drink out of them well. ...

Advantages: Not spill, Easy to hold, Can buy spare parts Disadvantages: Very fiddly to clean
...I decided to try the Avent Magic Cup. I was a little bit dubious at first as all the other non spill cups I had tried had been impossible for Evie to drink from.
DESIGN
The cup come in two sizes: 7oz/200ml for babies 3 months and above
9oz/260ml for babies 6 months and above.
They also have a Sports Bottle type, the Avent Magic Sportster Big Cup this is suitable from 12 months
They come in a range of bright nursery type colours the 3 month + ... ...The secret is the Avent Magic Valve which is the only one of it's kind. Basically there is a two part value that sits under the spout, the top part is a small plastic disc with holes in it and the bottom part is a flexible rubber disc, which pushes onto the top part. The value works by only opening when the cup is sipped from, thereby allowing the drink to pass through the value and flow into the mouth, once sipping has finished the valve closes ...

...went out and bought an Avent magic cup for him to drink out of. Magasines had struck fear into me that baby MUST NOT (sorry for capitals, thats how stern magasines and literature came across!!) drink juice from a bottle/teat.
My baby decided to be very awkward with juice/water and refuse it point blank. So I thought maybe it was the avent magic cup and went out and bought another cup, and another.....

The spouted cup I bought is quite flexible as it was from age 3 months or so, the larger older baby cups come with green spouts and I am wondering whether they may be slightly harder, but I haven't bought one of these yet. The cups are brightly coloured, the choice when I purchased my cup was either yellow or bright pink or green. The screw on bits are different colours ...

I think these are a brillient idea, and although they can work out expensive I feel they are well worth the money...especially when they are being used as teething rings...as my daughter did!! I have had to change the spouts on several ...

...fit onto to your existing Avent bottles - or alternatively you can buy a brightly coloured cup + handles with these spouts. Inside the spout, you also have to fit a 2 piece valve, making it more fiddly than other trainer cups, but you soon get used to it!
My daughter took to drinking from this Avent System straight away (when she was only 4 - 5 months old). I was literally able to throw away her bottle "teats" & change them all for "spouts" overnight!!! ... ...The main advantages of the Avent ones are:
* You can just buy packs of the spouts/valves to fit on your existing bottles. * They come in 2 age ranges - white for younger babies (approx 4 months) and green for older babies (approx 6 months). * They don't leak or spill !!!
* You can keep the spouts clean when out and about by using your exising bottle lids if you're simply converting your already-owned Avent bottles. Or if you're buying the brightly ...

We got some of these cups when our son was six months old. We decided to try them, as we didnt want our son to become dependent on bottles for drinking water etc.
We have some with and without the handles on. These handles are handy, as they help your young one give themselves a drink. The spouts that these cups come with are soft, so that you little nipper doesnt struggle too much with the change from a bottle. I did have to demonstrate what to do with my son, but he soon got the hang of it.
I cant remember what we paid for them, but at boots, they cost £2.98 for one cup. You can also get spare spouts for £2.50 for two, also boots. The spare spouts do come in handy as the spouts are prone to staining from certain foods.
These cups are to be used from six months old. Avent also do the same sort of magiccups for toddlers ...
Advantages: Versatile, durable and easy to clean Disadvantages: I've found none.
Determined to avoid any bottle attachment issues with my children I decided to train them onto older cups at quite an early age, by 6 months they were using training bottles that had larger teats and by 9 months they'd worked their way up to sippy cups. I had been looking for a cup that would start off with a soft spout making it easier for them to adjust to and that's when I discovered the Avent magicup Range
Avent Magicup With Handles-
Now most of the Magicups do come with handles, the larger sportster version has a single belt clip style handle for the more nimble fingered and dextrous toddler, but the regular Magicups have 2 handles making it easier for younger children to hold firmly and drink from on their own without mummy or daddy helping.
The regular (non sportser) cups come in 2 age groups 6months plus features a soft ...
Advantages: Can be used for bottles and food jars so will last a long time Disadvantages: Could do with a built in timer
Having had a baby 8 weeks ago and not being able to breastfeed I decided to invest in a food and bottle warmer around 3 weeks ago as I was getting fed up of having to boil the kettle in the middle of the night to warm up his bottles!
The warmer comes with a 4oz bottle and lid and a weaning spoon.
I found Tesco to be the cheapest place to buy it from at £15 which I did not mind paying as it will also be used for warming food when we get to that stage!
The warmer is very fast and easy to use. All you have to do is put in the bottle, add water, turn to the correct setting (1, 2 or 3) and switch on.
The warmer fits all Avent bottles, magiccups and food jars. I also have a couple of 9oz Boots own brand bottles which also fit perfectly.
The 4oz bottles heat in around 4 minutes however the 9 oz bottles take around 7 minutes ...
