Avent Magicup With Handles-
Now most of the Magicups do come with handles, the larger sportster version has a single belt clip style handle for the more nimble fingered and dextrous toddler, but the regular Magicups have 2 handles making it easier for younger children to hold firmly and drink from on their own without mummy or daddy helping.

The cups come with several parts- the main cup, the detachable handles, a clear cap, the unscrew lid and the removable spout. The spouts feature a clear latex style valve which regulates the flow of the drink, it is this valve which ... more
Determined to avoid any bottle attachment issues with my children I decided to train them onto older cups at quite an early age, by 6 months they were using training bottles that had larger teats and by 9 months they'd worked their way up to sippy cups. I had been looking for a cup that would start off with a soft spout making it easier for them to adjust to and that's when I discovered the Avent magicup Range
Avent Magicup With Handles- Now most of the Magicups do come with handles, the larger sportster version has a single belt clip style handle for the more nimble fingered and dextrous toddler, but the regular Magicups have 2 handles making it easier for younger children to hold firmly and drink from on their own without mummy or daddy helping.
The regular (non sportser) cups come in 2 age groups 6months plus features a soft white teat which allows younger babies with a weaker sucking motion to drink easier. The slightly larger 9months plus version has a solid green plastic spout designed to strengthen the sucking ability.
The cups come with several parts- the main cup, the detachable handles, a clear cap, the unscrew lid and the removable spout. The spouts feature a clear latex style valve which regulates the flow of the drink, it is this valve which helps strengthen the sucking motion but also stops any leakages making this one of the most leak proof cups on the market. In the case where your little one prefers a more steady flow of drink you can completely remove the valve allowing the liquid to flow more freely, of course this takes away the non spill element and you'll need to supervise your little one to avoid spillages.
Magicups come in a variety of vivid colours and can be mixed and matched as you desire, colours range from basic pink and blues to more vivid orange and yellows. You can even take the handles from a 6month cup to add to a 9 month cup, use the 9month spouts in the 6month cups………..they are very versatile, this not only makes life easier for us parents but also means if your younger baby needs a lot of fluid you can use the larger 9month cup with the soft spout meaning your tiny one gets all the drink he or she needs without struggling with the hard spout.
Price & Availability- I usually get the cups from Boots or Toys R Us, the 6month cup starts from £3.99 and the 9month cups start from £4.99, although prices do vary and other places such as Mothercare & even Asda stock them. Additional spouts are available, again I usually see them in Boots.
Our Experience- Both my little ones have used these cups, in both the 6 & 9 month sizes and they took to them brilliantly, starting off with the soft spout version allowed them to learn how to suck from the cups, it's a different motion used then when they drank from a bottle so it's not immediately natural for babies to do, and eventually when they were older they could move on to the harder plastic spouts which are needed once baby has a number of teeth as they have a habit of chewing on things. I never experienced a problem with chewing on the soft spouts but why take the risk?
The handles are perfectly designed and fit well into the youngsters hands, this makes it easier for them to manage using the cups, strengthening the muscles they'll need to do such movement and lifting and also helping their coordination, they are however open ended meaning that mummy can hold the handle to help if baby needs her to. I love that the handles, and other components all come apart, this makes the cups easier to clean and ensure there are no nasty germs lurking in crevices threatening to make your baby poorly. They can even be used in sterilisers giving complete peace of mind to us panicky parents.
The screw on top fits snugly over the handles but can also be used without the handles with no risk of coming loose and spilling or leaking in any way.
I still have some of Christophers original cups and they are in great condition after all this time (he's almost 4!) Elsa had a habit of chewing on her spouts so we had to replace them often, just to be on the safe side, but otherwise all the Magicups and their component parts have served us well. They are durable, easy to clean, don't spill despite falling or being thrown long distances and give you the fun option of mixing and matching, personalising your little ones cup.
Overall- A brilliantly designed cup for growing babies, durable, versatile and non-spill……..highly recommended.
Advantages: can change the nozles, easy to clean, the tops fit the bottles too. Disadvantages: they take on the flavour of the drink, e.g orange juice, quite expensive
on the Mothercare website you obviously have to go into the shop to buy them)
The Magiccup itself can also be bought from the same places, it comes with a spout and holds 260ml.
The cup and accesseries can be sterilised in the microwave and the spouts come apart to clean and are easy to clean, saying that though you do need a cotton bud to clean inside the spout.
The cup itself is incredibly strong and tough, my daughter loves throwing hers about and has even thrown it out of the back door in to the garden!
PRICE
AventMagicCup: £3.50
Spouts, White, 3m+: £2.50
Spouts, Green, 6m+: £2.50
Handles, twin pack multicolour: £2.99
These prices depend on where you buy them, it's worth shopping around for them.
I think these are a brillient idea, and although they can work out expensive I feel they are well worth the money ...

Advantages: Non-spill, fairly convenient to hold Disadvantages: Inaccurate indication of age suitability
AventMagicCup is an overall good value for money. It's convenient to hold. It's non-spill. Plus, you can easily buy replacement spouts and handles should you ever need to. The top of the cup also fits all Avent bottles. Fairly colourful to make it attractive for babies too :-). However, age suitability is not accurately indicated. First cup says that it's for 3+ months. Most babies of that age won't be able to hold the cup properly. Particularly with fluid in it. Babies that age lack co-ordination and don't know what to do with a cup. If you start at that age, it will require a lot of training and may make you disappointed. The fact that this cup is non-spill can be seen as a disadvantage for breastfed babies because the way they suck is different to that of bottlefed babies. ...
Advantages: found a cup he actually drinks out of Disadvantages: leaks, lose the valve in the washing up bowl
finished and have checked the bowl to make sure its empty!
One good thing is you can buy the spouts/valves etc seperately if need be. The spouts also fit the screw caps of the avent bottles.
My son's magiccup holds about 200ml, I think there are slightly bigger cups for when baby is a bit older.
Despite the niggles i have with the cup leaking from the screw cap I am pleased with it, perhaps solely because my son will drink out of it! If he drank out of other cups than work in a similar non spill way then maybe I wouldn't bother with the Aventmagiccup at all though.
The cup itself ranges in price from £3.30 - £3.50 (without handles) I can't find a price online to inform you let you know the price with handles but from memory it was just abit more on the price without handles, it was certainly more economic to buy the cup ...
