When I moved house in 2002 the Avon lady began to call. Every week she left her brochure and every week I handed it back to her unread. I admit that I thought Avon was just a little bit naff. I thought that it was ok if you wanted to stock up on lavender bubble bath in gallon bottles or old lady talcs ! How wrong I was.........
I think that it was boredom one day that lead me to browse the Avon catalogue. I was very surprised to discover that the products were not as naff as I thought. The shades of lipstick and nail varnish were actually quite eye-catching, and I was very surprised to see 'nice' undies and other fantastic gift ideas. Then I saw it......... it jumped out of the catalogue and almost hit me between the eyes..... A guaranteed 'cellulite busting cream'.
I know how all these creams and potions and lotions claim to reduce or completely zap away cellulite so why should I believe Avon’s somewhat dubious claims, because it was on offer that's why !! . The offer price was £7 (usually priced at £12) and I decided that I would give it a go. The full title of this apparent miracle cream was Cellusculpt Anti-Cellulite Body Sculpting Treatment. Well it sounded fantastic ! So I read on..... The results of this cream sounded a little too good to be true. Just how could a cream help anyone achieve leaner firmer thighs in a mere 4 weeks. The 'orange peel' texture of dimply thighs could be dramatically reduced and a loss of up to 1 and a half inches would be lost from each thigh , that claim was very intriguing.
After reading that I was almost sold, I think that it was the guaranteed 'money back if you do not love it ' idea that helped me make my final decision. The cream claimed to have instant results and if used as directed after 4 weeks thigh reduction could be in the region of 1 inch and after 12 weeks the promised 1 and a half inches !! I filled in my order form and left it at the bottom of the stairs patiently waiting to be collected.
Collection day arrived and then eventually came delivery day !!! How exciting..... I hurriedly disappeared upstairs with my salvation desperate to look great in my bikini.
I flipped open the lid and had a sniff... Yuk ! Smelled like jif lemon bath cleanser ! and to be honest the 200ml tube looked a little boring, white with a purple bottom with grey writing. Avon solutions it read, but could it solve my problem ? I began to apply the thin white cream in circular upward motions as directed in the aherm affected areas.... I was genuinely surprised to find that my skin did feel smoother, but my hands did smell like I had been scrubbing at the bath. A small price to pay for slender thighs I thought. I did make sure that I rubbed as vigorously as possible so my upper arms were receiving a workout too !!
I read the ingredients but all the words were impossible to pronounce ! Directions were also written in Spanish, French. Italian and German but one thing stood out in all languages NO CELLULITE !! The only warning in the 5 or so lines of English directions were avoid contact with eyes, if product gets into eyes rinse with cold water !! I know that Avon has a policy of not testing their products on animals so that was also a reassuring factor with my purchase.
I stuck with it and massaged the cream into my thighs and rear twice a day until the tube had almost been emptied. I noticed that my thighs had become more toned and the dimpled effect was actually almost gone, then came the answer I had been looking for...... Have you lost weight ?. Incredible... my hubby actually noticed, so it must have worked, he wouldn't notice if I dyed my hair green and danced naked on the dining room table.... SO IT MUST HAVE WORKED !! So I decided to put my new thighs to the test and tried on a pair of trousers had been a little tight.... they fit perfectly. I had actually found a cream that worked with dramatic results.
I have recently discovered that you can make purchases from Avon online. However the cream is full price on the website. So if you visit your gran and spy an Avon catalogue my advice is to stock up. I am now looking for a product that produces a flat washboard stomach with no effort other than applying cream. If any ciaoers spot one drop me a message in my guest book !!
I have this and I didn't really like it. When I applied it, it felt like my skin was on fire, really hot and very weird. Needless to say I didn't stick with it long enough to perhaps see the difference but I couldn't bear it any longer! And for anyone wanting to buy this, check eBay as it goes for pence on there, I got mine for 0.99! Great review, Laura x
