Two years ago I was getting ready for my holiday to Shanghai and decided I wanted some new perfume. The general idea was to get a cheap one and so if I ended up leaving things behind I would not be leaving a very expensive item. It was part of an offer of buy one Avon perfume and get another one cheaply so it probably cost about £6 for a 50ml bottle. Considering the length of the journey, Far Away seemed like a good one to choose.

It is a lot more flowery and fruity than the FCUK products I normally use and it was hard to say what the main smell is. There is clearly vanilla and apparently the others are amber, sandalwood and jasmine – I was a bit surprised at that as I always considered sandalwood a product for men’s toiletries.

The bottle is a pretty oval sort of shape and while it is not that big it is not really suitable to go in a small evening bag so it may be an idea to get the body spray if you want to take it on a night out. A friend who wears it considers it as a night time fragrance but I was happy to wear it throughout the day. It lasted well and did not feel too strong for the daytime.

The bottle is very attractive and I think it makes it look like a much more expensive product than it is. The little black tassle adds to the effect and blends well with the frosted bottle.

When I read a full list of all the contents there is a lot more than I had first heard as there is peach, violet, coconut and rose although there is no real smell of any of those. I have to admit I do not know what ylang ylang or osmanthus smell like so can’t comment on the contribution they make.

I found that there was no need to use a lot of the perfume as a bit on my wrists, neck and one little spray on the top I was wearing lasted all day.

I have bought the same perfume since and still use it on a regular basis. It has a fairly basic package – white with a picture of the bottle on it, but really it does not need fancy packaging to make it a god buy.

I wont stop wearing FCUK for this, but will always have it when I want a change.
