~ What is it? ~ Glimmersticks are retractable make-up stick range from Avon that host eye liner, brow definer and lip liner. They are all waterproof, fragrance free and are enhanced with vitamins to care for your skin - not forgetting the famous Avon promise of being able to return the product (even -after- trying it) if you hate it! This op is specifically about the eye liner Glimmerstick, hence being under 'eye liners'!
~ Packaging ~ Glimmersticks come in a small navy-blue box with the basic information written in white print - but that's not interesting. The actual stick is a thin and sleek, made of navy-blue plastic, with matching lid and has the information written on in silver print. At the end there is a thin band of colour - the colour of the eyeliner - and just in case you can't read, there is a cute picture of an eye to remind you what it is! The lid easily slides on and off, but doesn't come off in your bag accidently which is useful, and gently turning the stick with your fingers, lengthens the actual eyeliner to the length you want. This means there is never any hassle about having to sharpen it!
~ Colour Range ~ The colour range contains all the basic colours, although is a disappointment if you wanted something more interesting or exciting than the usual bland stuff. Of course, as with all products from Avon, the colours have to have a pretentious name (what's wrong with just "black"???), so there is Cosmic Brown, Fiery Black, Green Velvet, Saturn Grey and Starry Night Blue.
~ Application ~ No CV's needed or forms to fill out here! No, simply remove the lid and glide across your eyelid for "precision lining that won't drag or smudge". This is the easiest to use, eyeliner I've ever had and it works perfectly everytime. It creates a light and subtle look to begin with, which you can then go over for a more defined look. The Glimmerstick is also perfect for creating a delicate pattern along your eyelid - for the more creative and experimental of you! Application is also only needed once a day, because this has great staying power and only has minimal smudging with my terrible habit of wiping my eyes all the time, which ruins most eye make-up.
~ Other ~ Glimmersticks obviously can be bought from either your Avon representative or from the website. The official price is £4 each, but as with all Avon products, look out for deals and special offers in their catalogues - I purchased mine £6 for two! Whatever price you pay thouugh, this is definitely worth buying and will give you sexy eyes, for months of end.
Advantages: gentle, easy to apply, cheap Disadvantages: blunt-ended
...and starry night blue.
The Avon brochure describes the Glimmersticks range as “pencils that never need sharpening. Waterproof and fragrance free.”
They are nothing special to look at, but then, what would you expect? It basically looks like a black felt tip pen and is similarly contoured, although slimmer at the top. It is small and easy to put in your make-up bag, no matter how stuffed it is already! It is dark blue with gold writing, ... ...the bottom illustrating the shade of the eyeliner it is.
The Glimmersticks are retractable, you hold the pen firmly and twist it in the middle, which brings out more of the eyeliner point at the top. So that’s useful and it will hopefully last a long time, as long as you don’t twist out the point until it’s too long and breaks off. Ouch.
So how easy is it to use and do I recommend it? Well, it is just like drawing on yourself ...

Advantages: Never have to sharpen it, Can get the thin eyeliner look or the smudgy kohl pencil look, Usually on special offer, I've never lost a top yet. Disadvantages: Not the best staying power
...full price is £5.00 each, Avon are currently running a promotion on their site at £2.99 each. I personally have never paid full price for it, I don’t intend to either. It comes in eight shades:
Blackest black: for the vampy look if you’re pale like me.
Green velvet: a kind of grass green, doesn’t really appeal to me.
Saturn grey: a silvery grey, again doesn’t appeal to me.
Crystal blue: Quite an ABBA blue, not me either.
Cosmic brown: Mid brown, ... ...Starry night blue: purple tinted blue, quite dark too. I use this one to bring out the green in my eyes (tone down the grey and dead donkey brown hues)
Fiery black: no doubt called fiery as it a charcoal black
Bronze: a copper pink, I can only think this would make your eyes look as if you were ratted, I’d rather get the look by actually getting ratted,
They last quite well and I usually lose them before I run out. I occasionally stray and buy ...

Advantages: Wide range of colours, value for money, easy to apply and waterproof. Disadvantages: Some colours are strange!
...wonder if you realise that Avon produces a series of pencils, which do not require sharpening. They are part of the Avon Colour range of make up and have been avalible for purchase for over five years now. This is known as automatic delivery. Yes, that is right, you do not need a pencil sharpener at all and therefore there is no mess at the bottom of your make-up bag! They are known as Retractable Glimmersticks. There is a wide selection of colours ... ...pencil too. I found these Avon Glimmersticks were ideal to use on stage due to their bold colours.
**Colours** The Avon Retractable Glimmersticks are designed not only for the eyes, in five colours, but for the brows in three colours and the lips in five colours.
*Glimmersticks Brows Definer* The brow glimmer stick is as easy to apply. It defines the eyebrows and is also easy to blend into the skin. It is waterproof.

Advantages: Waterproof, easy to apply, no sharpening, suitable for contact lenses. Disadvantages: A bit pricey
I have used these Avon glimmerstcks for about 4 years, and they are great.
They look like slim plastic "pens", which you twist up to display the "stick" of colour. The packaging is navy blue, with the pull-off top a different colour, to demonstrate the colour of the pencil contained inside. It states the colour on the packaging, too. The Avon brochure presents a fairly good representation of the actual colours.
I wear contact lenses, and never ... ...mind paying £4.50 per pencil. Avon often does a "3 for 2" or "buy one get second half price" offer. You can also "smudge" the colour for a smokey look, although I only do this with the Saturn Grey, so can only comment on that colour. With daily usage, I find one pencil will last me about 6 weeks, which is not bad at all.
I would never be without my glimmerstcks as the basics of make-up bag. I have tried cheaper ones, and more expensive pencils, ...

...get any of that with Avon Glimmerstick.
What you do get is an easily achievable perfect line, whether your looking for subtle emphasis on the under lashes or a feline-like top lid, this is the one a girl's just gotta have!
The packaging is slim and elegant, dark navy in colour - looking, may I add, far more expensive than a lot of 'major' brands. I'm onto my third one now and they really do last a while. Mine is in Fiery Black which is quite a ... ...tried, there are 4 other colours to try. Because it retracts it won't mess your make-up bag/get black lines all over your diary etc., it also means because you won't ever have to sharpen it, it won't tear at your skin (a newly sharpened eye pencil is a lethal weapon in shaky 'morning after night before' hands)!
It's really smudgable and I can't sing it's praises highly enough! Long live Avon! ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Avon Glimmer Stick"
Advantages: A lot of product for the money, good size Disadvantages: Only 3 colours in the range and we're not all the same!
'd have to cope with baldness and then when my Avon catalogue arrived and I had nothing in mind to order I opted to buy this product to try!
The Packaging:
Long, thin dark blue pen and on the side of it I'm told it's Glimmersticks Brow Definer and it's colour coded at the end by a strip of colour. The contact details for Avon are on the side rather discreetly and it has a long lid and you simply twist the bottom half of the pen to get the colour up and down. It's all very simple to look at and I like it's long thin shape as it's easy to pop in the bottom of a handbag and take out and about with you if you want to as it isn't bulky.
Using It:
Well when mine arrived I was rather excited. I thought all my problems would be solved...but no it wasn't to be for me!
Using it is simple. I opted for a dark brown to go with my natural ...
Advantages: No need to sharpen, Natural looking shades, Disadvantages: Having to wait for it to be delivered
I have very thin, light coloured brows and have to define them with something or they look non existent which is sometimes quite amusing.(To other people not to me!) So I have tried a few different brow styling products.
I came across the Avon Glimmerstick for Brows whilst at work and flicking through the Avon Brochure on my break.
There I was munching my sarnie (chicken and cucumber if your interested) and saw the product that I hoped would forever leave me with eyebrows.
I found out who the Avon lady at work was and placed my order. (It ended up being quite a large order as the further I went through the book the more things I really needed.)
After waiting for a few weeks (which I must say is the only downside to Avon ordering as when you go to Boots you can just pick your items from the shelves, pop them into your basket ...
Advantages: Smooth defined line Disadvantages: smells like pencils!
people have cleaning obsessions, I have an eyebrow-plucking obsession!
Trying to make me stop doesn’t work either, my mam and my bloke have both tried all they can to stop me, hiding my tweezers, shouting at me and none of it works!
I just hate the feeling of knowing that my eyebrows aren’t perfect. If I feel them and I can feel a hair growing back out of the thin line, out comes my tweezers, and out comes the hair!!
I’ve had my eyebrows waxed once, and it was horrible. I had nothing to pluck!
Sometimes, plucking goes wrong, and I need something that can stop me looking stupid- the no eyebrow look is so bad. It just makes you look like a kid at school who has had their eyebrows shaved off in a drunken dare, yeah it happens!!
The product that is my lifesaver is Avon’s Glimmerstick brows definer, I think ...
