Avon Naturals Aloe Face Cream with Wheatgerm

I love Avon and I can’t resist a bargain. Not surprisingly therefore, an offer for three products from the Avon Naturals range for a mere five of our gold coins (er, £5) proved too good to pass up.

Green isn’t my favourite colour, but all of the Avon Naturals products are green, so you haven’t got much choice really. I guess green is a colour associated with nature – trees, grass, flowers and the like – which goes with the idea of the Naturals range, but personally, I’d like them all to be purple.

This is how I came to buy the very catchily named Avon Naturals Aloe Face Cream with Wheat Germ. This usually sells for £3.50 per 100ml tub and although I would say it is probably worth it, I’m sure you’ll all agree it’s better to pay less if you can.

It comes in a little round see-through plastic tub with a bright green lid. It is useful to see how much you have used, so you can order more from your Avon representative (No, I’m not!) or at their website.

You unscrew the lid, so the tub is safe to carry around without the threat of spillage. It is quite light, as it isn’t a glass tub, so you could keep this in your bag without it weighing you down at all.

The cream itself looks like something you’d find in the gunge tank on Noel’s House Party (or that kids’ show with Dave Benson Phillips presenting, if you’re too young to remember Noel ruling our Saturday nights!). It is a pale green and it stinks of pine, not pleasant on either count.

It is quite thick and creamy and feels lovely and cooling on your face. I have very dry cheeks, so I need to use a face cream every day. My favourite is Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Crème and the only reason the Avon Naturals came out of the cupboard was when I ran out of Nivea last week.

It is an adequate substitute, but can’t completely replace my Nivea. The Avon Naturals Aloe Face Cream is harder to absorb than the Nivea, leaving my cheeks feeling greasy and slippery.

The Nivea smells lovely, it looks great and absorbs brilliantly. It is also suitable for all your skin and I often use it on my hands, whereas the Avon one is specifically a face cream.

The Avon Naturals face cream is a pretty good product. It does work, my face was much less dry after applying and the tub lasts well too. Overall though, I much prefer the Nivea Soft and would buy that over the Avon one any day. The smell of the Avon Naturals is a big disadvantage and I can’t feel any wheatgerm either, when I was expecting grains that exfoliate. So not bad, but try the Nivea Soft first!
