My mother in law recently bought me some Avon facial wash ~ it’s from the Naturals range and contains Aloe and ginger. She knows how much I like ginger and decided that I needed a treat ~ it was my husband’s birthday but she thought I ought to have a gift too!
~~HOW MUCH AND WHERE FROM?
You can either get it out of an Avon catalogue, or by visiting http://www.avonshop.co.uk/ where you can register and shop online. It costs £2.50 for 125ml but it often appears in their offers (e.g., buy so many things from the Naturals range for £5 ~ at the moment it’s buy 3 products for a fiver.), so I’d have a look and see.
~~HOW WILL I RECOGNISE IT?
Well, the best thing to do is to look in the brochure with the other Naturals products, or look at the range on the web-site! You will find it with the other Aloe Vera Naturals ~ there is a facial scrub containing kiwi fruit, a facial cream with wheat germ, a cleanser with geranium and a toner with tea tree. The packaging of this product is simple ~ an opaque plastic “tube” with a black screw on lid.
~~HOW TO USE IT.
Squeeze a small amount into the palm of your hand (you only need a little bit ~ maybe the size of a 50p) add a bit of water and rub it into your skin. It’s best if you use smooth circular strokes and try not to get it in your eyes (it will sting a bit if you do, but rinsing it out isn’t difficult). It foams up a bit and is pretty easy to rinse off using warm water. You can then continue your usual skin care routine.
~~WHAT DID I THINK?
I’ll split this into sections and sum up at the end!
**APPLICATION.
It goes on easily and without too much mess. The only bad point is that the lid is a screw on and not a flip lid. When you’ve put some in your palm it’s a bit fiddly trying to get the lid back on ~ you can’t leave the lid off either, because the container stands on its end and it would run out! Once you’ve managed to close it up the liquid (which is quite clear with a very slight green tinge) goes on well and lathers up well into your skin. Rinsing is pretty painless and quick too.
**SMELL & TEXTURE.
The predominant scent is Aloe Vera with only a very slight ginger smell. It’s pleasant and the ginger does come through a little more while you are massaging it into your skin. It also smells a little bit soapy and rather nice to use (it smells like it is doing your skin good!). None of the aromas present are overpowering either, so that’s also a good sign. The texture is like a liquid soap ~ more runny than a shower gel. As you rub it the liquid turns to a lather like you would get from a soap. It covers well and doesn’t leave a residue on your skin when you come to rinse it away.
**PERFORMANCE.
I like the way it leaves my skin feeling ~ as well as cleaning, it refreshes my skin and leaves it feeling soft. The Aloe Vera does the softening, the ginger puts in a bit of zing and the soapiness cleans thoroughly. My skin is quite sensitive and I was a little concerned that a perfumed product may bring me out it a rash ~ I needn’t have worried, because it seems to be pretty gentle and I haven’t had any problems with it (I would look at the ingredients just to make sure you aren’t allergic to anything though ~ the good thing about Avon is that you can send the stuff back if you aren’t satisfied or it isn’t suitable).
I really liked this product. I wish the ginger could have been a bit stronger and the container a little better designed, but apart from that it was a top notch facial wash. It make my skin feel clean, fresh and moisturised ~ a bit of pampering that helped to “wake” my skin up in the morning.
I have been using it for just over a week now and have used it every morning and also if I am off out in the evening. A little bit seems to go a long way and I still have over ¾ of the tube left. All in all a recommended product!
Advantages: GENTLE ENOUGH TO USE AS A DAILY FACIAL WASH, SMELLS NICE AND IS ECONOMICAL. Disadvantages: SCREW-OFF TOP, MAY BE BETTER AS A FLICK TOP (LESS FIDDLY).
HIYA!! DON'T WORRY I'M STILL HERE EVERYONE!!

125 MLS - NORMALLY £2.50
THIS RECENT BROCHURE - £1.25
BARGAIN
THE FRAGRANCE SMELLS MORE OF ALOE VERA THAN GINGER. THE FACIAL WASH IS A TRANSPARENT LIQUID, WITH A VERY VERY SLIGHT COLOURING OF GREEN (FADED GREEN).
THE PACKAGING IS A SQUEEZY PLASTIC TUBE WITH HOLE IN BOTTOM FOR PRODUCT TO COME OUT WITH A SCREW-OFF LID, MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER ... ...WASH EVERYDAY AS PART OF A DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE, AND IT'S MILD ENOUGH FOR EVEN SENSITIVE SKIN, I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE IT!
YOU ONLY NEED A 10 PENCE PIECE AMOUNT, ADD A BIT OF WATER AND APPLY TO FACE USING CIRCLE MOTIONS. IT DOES FOAM SLIGHTLY SO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU HAVE APPLIED. THEN JUST RINSE OFF.
WHEN I USED THIS FACIAL WASH, I THOUGHT THAT WHILE I WAS APPLYING IT MY SKIN FELT REFRESHED. I DON'T THINK YOU NEED TO RE-APPLY, YOUR SKIN FEELS ...
