The BAR team was founded after Craig Pollock, a close friend of Jacques Villeneuve, purchased Ken Tyrrell's eponymous team in late 1997, and they made their first appearance on the grid in Australia in 1999. In a sport where a lot of money has come from tobacco companies, it was no surprise that BAR would have a car emblazened with the leading brands produced by owners British American Tobacco. Of course in their début season they had already caused a stir when they unveiled their cars with non-identical liveries, something with the FIA quickly deemed illegal. This left them in a bizarre situation, and to semi defy the FIA, they used a livery made up half of the Lucky Strikes livery and the other half from the 555 livery.
This was sadly about all the excitement that the team was going to generate in its maiden season, with Jacques Villeneuve, a signing from Williams, with whom he had won the World Championship in 1997, and Ricardo Zonta both failing to score a single world championship point, in a season where even Minardi managed a point (Gene at the European Grand Prix). It was the fact that the team had one of the largest budgets on the circuit, thanks to BAT and also Adrian Reynard's Reynard Engineering, who produced the chassis
Fortunately for BAR, unlike Minardi, the money was still there, and the team improved in 2000, netting a far more respectable 20 points in the constructors championship, which put them in joint fourth place overall behind Ferrari, McLaren and Williams and level with Benetton. Jacques Villeneuve showed signs of the old Villeneuve that had been world champion at Williams, although he never finished higher than 4th position (on four occasions) and netted a total of 17 points (7th in the Driver's Championship).
For someone who had won four races in his first season, and been world champion in his second season after finishing runner-up in his début season, this season promises to be an interesting one for Villeneuve. He has stated from the outset that the team needs to finsih third this season for his to consider staying, and anything less, he will consider a move elsewhere, as there would certainly be quite a few teams scrapping for his services.
It was Villeneuve's friendship with Pollock that meant a certain degree of animosity with Sir Frank Williams toward the end of his stay at Williams. Pollock was barred from the Williams pits during the season before BAR's entry due to the strain he was creating at the team between Williams and Villeneuve. Villeneuve has to a certain extent had a considerable baptism of fire, coming to F1 after winning the 1995 IndyCar series.
His replacement at Williams, Alessandro Zanardi, who raced in IndyCar after a lacklustre performance in an underpowered Lotus, however never found his feet in F1 again, and his contract was terminated, and 20 year Jenson Button brought in to replace him after one season. Villeneuve is also somewhat in the shadow of his father Gilles, who died in qualification at Zolder in 1982, with whom parallels have frequently been made.
Olivier Panis, Villeneuve's 2001 team-mate has experienced the highs and lows of Formula 1. From winning the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix, he then also had a massive crash in Canada in 1997, in which he broke both of his legs. Indeed prior to this he had pushed his team-mate for 2001, Jacque Villeneuve very hard at the Spanish Grand Prix, which is proof that he is a fast enough driver. He stayed at Ligier, which then became Prost after Alain Prost bought the team from Guy Ligier and had respectable seasons there in 1998 and 1999, even though he was really in mid-table. He took 2000 out and became a test driver at McLaren, and Ron Dennis the McLaren boss, let him go at the end of the season, having praised the effort he had put in during the season. Indeed he started a bit of a trend, in that prior to his season as a test driver, no one with any real race experience stepped down to the rank of test driver, although this season, the man who replaces his as McLaren's test driver, Alex Wurz, and ex BAR driver, Riccardo Zonta, are both taking a leaf out of Panis' book and spending a season as a test driver in the hope that it might let them kickstart their F1 Careers again.
The question is of course whether BAR will make it to third place in the constructors championship. Whilst Villeneuve can beat anyone on his day, and Panis could score some useful points, the partnership with Honda is still too young to bear the sorts of fruits that Villeneuve is after. After all the Williams team, having had a few years in the wilderness as such post-Renault, has started to make some headway at last with its new BMW engines, the Saubers/Prosts are doing better in testing this year, and Jordan, Ferrari and McLaren look to be that much clear of the chasing pack.
In addition the new Benetton car is looking good with its new Renault engine, and impressive line-up of Button and Fisichella, so points may still prove to be elusive for BAR, although this season should see the first trip to the podium for Jacques Villeneuve in BAR overalls. I expect the team to improve on their 20 points last season, but don't quite see them taking third place in the constructors championship as Jacques so dearly wants.
...been able to produce some good results this year, with villeneuve getting in the points a number of times.Jaques has supplied most of the points for the team this season and I think that the bar team has picked up and adapted well to the pace of the formula 1 arena. ...

Advantages: Money Money Money. Oh and Honda Disadvantages: Stick to bikes Honda
Have you any wool? No, but I do have a multi million pound Formula 1 operation that does not seem to be able to compete with the big boys. Is it me or did everyone expect a lot more from the British American Racing team by this point of the season. What is the problem down to? Do you remember the boast of "We will qualify in pole for our first race!" No. You will go to the back of the field with 2 crap cars. Poor old Jacques! He has signed up for ...

Advantages: Honda...Villeneuve Disadvantages: lack of top level experience
BAR exploded on to the F1 scene last year amid comments about winning their first race. This was actually blown way out of proportion as they meant only that they were aiming to continue the trend set by EVERY other car produced by Reynard. However, not only did they NOT win their first race, they failed to score a point, barely finished any races & finished bog last in the Championship. Despite all that, they secured Honda engines & kept the hugely ... ...This season has seen a marked improvement. The cars are not dramatically quicker than last year, but they ARE much more reliable. Indeed, following Villeneuve's stirring drive to 4th place at the French GP, BAR are knocking on the door of 3rd place in the Constructors@ Championship. Well Done boys!! ...
Advantages: Outstanding driver in Jacque Villeneuvre Disadvantages: Non competitive and poor reliability
The UK-based BAR FormulaI team was launched amidst a blaze of publicity several years ago and in the opinion of a number of observers was expected to quickly emerge as a competitive team. This reputedly well-funded team was able to secure the services of the highly talented Canadian driver and former world champion Jacque Villeneuve as their No I driver.
Unfortunately BAR performed poorly in last year's grand prix season and finished pointless. This ... ...mate the young Brazilian driver Ricardo Zonta.
The poor run of results have reputedly led to Jacque considering a move to a more competitive tream. If this should happen the BAR team are highly likely to continue to face an uphill struggle in their quest for Formula I glory. ...

Advantages: Great potential Disadvantages: Unreliable at times
Jacques Villeneurve was very brave in moving to such a team, they have a huge budget and there was a lot of hype surrounding the team. In 1999 they were a bit of a disappointment, but no F1 team can expect to suddenly appear and be competing with the best.
The team have great potential and under the careful guidance of Craig Pollock I am sure the team will go on to achieve great things - especially if Jacques Villenueve decides to stay as he is ...

Advantages: Soooo addictive! Disadvantages: Probably the calories
I have just remembered a recipe for cakes that I used to make with my mum when I was little and remembering how tasty they are I just had to share it with you all!
I haven't got the exact measurements because we never used them and just did it by sight really but I think it's pretty straightforward really.
Ingredients
----------------
4 Mars bars
Rice crispies (no exact amount, see later)
200g/250g bar of cooking chocolate
Butter
Preparation
----------------
Chop the mars bars up into slices and melt these in a saucepan with a scrape of butter over a medium heat.
When the slices have all melted and you have a gooey liquid start adding the rice crispies and make sure they are all stirred in and covered with the mixture. You should be able to tell how many to use, just keep adding them until there's none of the mixture ...
Advantages: Delicious, Mouth Watering, Divine! Disadvantages: Calories... but shhh and no one will know!
Now no girl likes chocolate more than me and what would be better for a chocolate lover than a cake where you get double helpings of chocolate - not only mars bars but milk chocolate too! And that's the beauty of Mars Bar cake... above average amounts of chocolate!
Now just to clarify, it's not strictly a cake as my definition of cake is typically something containing sponge or of a similar texture of sponge so perhaps Mars Bar biscuit would be more appropriate although it don't sound quite as tempting does it! And believe me, Mars Bar cake is certainly tempting!
Time to Make - about 15 minutes of actual cooking, about 1 and a half hours waiting for things to cool down so not ideal if you're looking to rustle up something in 10 minutes!
Difficulty - the receipe I use is pretty easy to follow, I'm hopeless in the kitchen and I ...

A man walks into a bar, sits down, and orders a drink.
"Hey, nice tie!" comes out of nowhere.
He looks up at the bartender to see if he had said anything, but since he was on the other side of the bar the man just ignores it.
"Hey! Nice shirt!"
The man looks up but, again, the bartender is engaged elsewhere.
"Hey! Nice suit!"
The man then calls the bartender over and asks him if he keeps talking to him.
"It's not me, it's the complimentary peanuts."
A man and his pet giraffe walk into a bar and start having a few quiet drinks.
As the night goes on, they get pretty drunk.
The giraffe finally passes out near the pool tables, and the man decides to go home.
As the man is leaving, he's approached by the barman who says, "Hey, you're not gonna ...
