Go go Ground Force
Advantages: Charlie Dimmock Disadvantages: non
Ground force, in a word, fantastic, the show was the ultimate prime time Saturday night TV, the entertainment value was through the roof, Charlie has absolutely fantastic garden features specialising in water, this was a pleasure to watch as Charlie installed confidence into the gardens of Britain, specialising in the water features that make the gardens the place to be, with a constant memory of Charlie. I have recently bought the special edition ... ...special features that Charlie integrates into the gardens make it all worth while. Tommy Walsh, the man with a plan, and incidentally a lot of Dimmock, sorry, a lot of decking in the gardens of many
Alan Titchmarsh is the flower expert of the show, making it easy for the watchers of the show to understand how the garden world works, and making gardening seem appealing to almost everyone watching. As soon as you watch a few of these episodes you ...

Lawrence, Leather Lounges and MDF
Advantages: waste away half an hour, educational Disadvantages: Gets very repetative.
Don’t you hate reality T.V? I hate most of it. It’s all celebrity this and celebrity that, Garden SOS, Ground Force and Big Brother. The list is endless but my personal pain in the arse is ‘Changing Rooms’. Two sets of people swapping houses for two days to splash paint on the walls and probably the floor and ceiling too. It Seemed like a good idea to start with but now I have actually watched one or two of them I could just scream over some of the ... ...show. And it is always the same. Find two sets of people, go in each others house, re-decorate and leave again. Leaving behind a weird idea of what they think people would like to live in.
Not only did you have to put up with smiley smiley Carol smiley but now you have to endure half an hour of that poncy prat Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, uggg. He flounces into room number one. A beautiful room in need of a change, ‘apparently’. He changes it all right ...

DIY SOS - if you can't do it yourself, ask these guys for help!
Advantages: A thoroughly enjoyable show Disadvantages: None really!
WHAT IS IT? DIY SOS is a home makeover show that focuses on those who really desperately need help after an unsuccessful attempt at some serious DIY. I'm not talking the odd wonky shelf here or there, more like massive holes where walls should be and rooms that look more like a building site than a home. The team have 5 days to turn these houses from disaster zones into beautiful living spaces that fulfil the owner's wildest dreams. There is usually ... ...sorting out the mess they have made - often illness or a sudden change in circumstance has left the family with no proper home. DIY SOS has been running for 10 years and is currently on its 18th series! You can catch it on a Thursday on BBC at 8.30pm. THE TEAM What sets DIY SOS apart from other home makeover shows is that the team is so funny. They are constantly cracking jokes at one another's expense or engaging in some kind of silliness for the ...

what a load of.. (insert own word)
Advantages: delays doing the ironing for 30 mins Disadvantages: I'd rather be doimg the ironing
I don't think I have ever seen such a load of rubbish in my life. The format of the program is basically as follows:
Anne Ryder Richardson or Linda Barker go into someones home and "decorates" it without spending any money, with things "found" in and around the house. They are allowed to use things out of their design kits, that they just happen to be carrying around with them.
The designers could put Paul Daniels to shame with the huge quantities ... ...bags. In one program I watched recently, Anne just happened to be carrying around nearly a full roll of pink netting in her bag (like you do!). Their designs are out dated and often look like a 10 year old has come up with them. (Think bathroom curtains made out of towels, or mobiles made out of coat hangers and sweet papers and you're about there.)
As for the people who let the designers into their houses in the first place, well they need their ...

Garden Invaders feed the dreams
Advantages: Good for ideas Disadvantages: Can be unrealistic
The problem with programmes like Garden Invaders is that they give the impression that all gardens can be established and completely revamped in just a day. They can - if you have a highly imaginative garden designer, a team of young, fit gardeners, loads of money to buy plants. Real gardening requires a lot of patience, time and hard work but that’s half the pleasure of it. Put a shrub in one year, the next year up it comes again, and it just keeps ... ...back again the next year – like having an old friend back. Then there are seeds, they have to be nurtured, given the right conditions to grow, such as soil, temperature etc. Not to mention the battle of the bugs – gardening is sometimes like a constant war. The hard landscaping of garden, such as building paths or putting up fences, can also be physically very tough and should be taken slowly if you are not used to it or you could develop muscle ...
