As time goes by it just gets better and better

Advantagesgreat writing, fabulous performances

Disadvantagesseries isn't long enough

"As Time Goes By could best be described as a ‘gentle comedy’! That doesn’t really sell it to you does it? Well As Time Goes By isn’t wildly laugh a minute hilarious, it isn’t full of weird and wacky characters, it’s completely inoffensive and there’s not much in the way of slapstick - so a ‘gentle comedy’ is probably the best way to describe it! What makes this comedy such a joy is the writing and the stellar performances. As Time Goes By has ..." Read review

Beginning to lack in quality

AdvantagesFunny occasionally, good actors

DisadvantagesStorylines a bit predictable

"The first few series of this show I really enjoyed., They were immensely funny and the plots were always funny. Not only that, the acting was super because of the quality of the actors/actresses (eg. Judi Dench) However, I feel that this show has increasingly become weaker over the past couple of seasons, to such an extent that the 'humour' has become almost unfunny and rather pathetic. The storylines are predictable, and it looks like a rush-job ..." Read review

Better with age

AdvantagesIf Des Lynam is the thinking woman's crumpet, then this is the thinking person's comedy

DisadvantagesVERY middle class!

"Being a devout socialist I have no idea why I like this programme so much! It is very middle class in stories and characters but you just can't help taking to it straight away. Judi Dench is always fantastic in whatever she tries her hand at, a real traditional actress that hasn't allowed herself to be typecast and always delivers a great performance. The same can be said about Geoffrey Palmer, he's been around British television for a long time and ..." Read review
