Advantages Great plot, good characters well written and amusing.

Disadvantages The book itself is highly rare. It was afterall written in 1958, so trying to find it was tough.

The Silver Brumby for me was an excellent book to read. It's beautifully written, has a great story line and not just that, it will keep you wanting to read till the very last page.

The story follows the adventures of Thowra - a wild mountian brumby and son of Yarraman, King of the Cascade brumbies, as he runs wildly over the beautiful victorian high country with his mother Belbel, and his half brother storm. Being born a creamy (isabella palomino), he is desired by Australian cattlemen who seek him for his beauty. From brith to adulthood, Thowra is constantly targeted by men who want him for his striking cream coat and silver mane and tail.

Not only is he been sought after by man, he has rival stallions to worry about like The Brolga, who killed Thowra's father and claimed his place as King of the Cascade Brumbies.

After defeating The Brolga, Thowra takes back his birth right as wild horse king and continues his adventures into 6 other books.

The story is witty, clever and a joy to anyone who is a big horse lover like myself. For about 190 pages long, it gives you a fantastic insight into the wild Australian bush told by a woman who lived among it, and explains wild horse behaviour acuuratley.

If you love horses or if you like an adventure story, The Silver Brumby will do just that. Not only is it a childrens book, but it is a book that can be enjoyed by anyone of all ages.
