"G'day mate!"

Currently showing on BBC1 from around 9.15 in the morning and lasting for around three quarters of an hour, Wanted Down Under is the lifestyle programme that takes people to either Australia or New Zealand and helps them to realise their dreams of moving down under - or not, as the case may be.

The people who are in each of the episodes wish to make better lives not only for themselves but also for their families too, and are given a week to experience life down under first hand. Each episode is hosted by Nikki Chapman, and takes pretty much the same format as is shown here now for you all.

The show follows a family of any size (but normally two adult partners with or without children), and takes them through all the various different aspects of life that will be important to them should they wish to take the plunge and move. Those areas include the following:

Work: whether they will be able to get the same (or similar) work down under, and if they will be on the same or higher rates of pay than what they were on beforehand.

Homes: if what they will get for selling their house back in the UK coupled with their possible wage/s in their new life, then they may get something better. Normally three houses are looked at, all within their budget roughly.

Social life: if they and their close family have a good social life and are happy, then this can make all of the difference.

Reality check: a video link that shows messages from their loved ones back home, to see if what they are planning on doing is really what they are up for.

After each section of the show, they are then asked to vote depending on what they have just experienced as to what they feel would be the better place for them to live in would be. More often than not they tend to agree, but at times it is not always possible to agree depending on what people want or how they feel afterwards.

I enjoy watching this programme, as not only is it something that allows people to see if their dreams are all that they are meant to be but it also helps other people out also who may well be thinking of doing something similar with their lives. If this is a programme that you have not watched and are thinking of doing the same, then it is worth your while in watching it.

As well as the normal programme as already described, during the holiday periods they often go back to visit previous guests. This may be seeing if they have changed their minds if they didn't want to go initially, or how they are doing if they have already 'taken the plunge' as it were and moved.

Thanks for reading!

I think Australia is not the place it was when I lived there 20 years ago. It is still a wonderful country but so expensive now to the way it was so much harder to make the move I would think.
