Call time on the Tweenies

Advantages: Bright and eye-catching with catchy tunes for kids
Disadvantages: The puppets whine non-stop (and of course it drives parents mad!)

...think are great - The Tweenies is not one of them. If my son turned into the whining, bickering self-pitying fools that we see on the Tweenies, I would through my hands up in the air and give up now. I find there to be very little value to be gained or learnt from the Tweenies for my son. The messages and lessons, although very positive tend to get missed in all the noise and uproar and more often than not my son gets bored and wanders off before ...
...The songs, although catchy are also repetative and quite unimaginative. My son watches tv usually before bed as a way of winding down (I am sure I am not alone on this one) and unfortunately the Tweenies doesn't offer him anything of substance to endear him to the show. ...

Everyone Say Eh Oh

Advantages: Keeps The Kids Occupied!
Disadvantages: Drives Parents Mad!

...perhaps in someway the teletubbies made their illness easier for them to cope with and the parents were able to communicate with their kids. I don't expect evryone to agree with what I have said but this is a personal review and so these are merely my opinions ...

Why Bird, Peggy Patch etc.

Advantages: Great for children of most ages
Disadvantages: Not on very much anymore, Peggy Patch

The basic idea was that there was the Playbus which drove around and stopped at several different places: The Why Bird stop ~ Why Bird and the current bus driver found out about things on Whybird's computer, and filed things that had been left on the bus. The Tent stop ~ the best one, they had to find their costumes in a big box, and then they acted out stories. Okay, so the stories were very simple, and often looking back, a little dull, but as ...
...~ had a roundabout, lots of singing, and Mr Jolly. The Patch Stop ~ Peggy Patch and friends go on adventures. Often in a field. They would find twigs and leaves and think they were interesting. They weren't. Even as a small child I hated it when the Patch Stop came on. The Dot stop ~ although I don't think this was very often. Dot never spoke, and my only real memory of this stop was that she ran through some numbers, teaching us to count...or ...

He's no Cowboy

Advantages: Great and easy for the kids
Disadvantages: None to mention

...heard those words, uttered by Bob and his band of merry builders. Those of you from the UK, most certainly, but for those who have not, then I would assume that you have not been a parent or grandparent, or uncle/aunty during the last four or five years. So… what’s it all about, Borgy? Bob is a builder (no prizes for working that one out). He has a building firm, and working for him are lots of talking machines and Wendy (who I always thought was ...
...than ten minutes, during which Bob and his gang usually have to build or mend something. Bob is about thirty years old. He is the typical builder, the kind you would want to have come and put up that kitchen extension. A likeable chat, if you have anything that has gone wrong (building-wise) he is happy to sort out… however we never hear prices mentioned, so I don’t know if he is cheep or if he would rip you off. You get the impression that he is ...

Wotta Lotta Flobbalob

Advantages: Amusing and Entertaining
Disadvantages: no obvious ones

...a child, the all new Bill and Ben are back and just as delightfully daft as ever. The narrator still has a comfortable, easy on the ear voice, and weed is still whiny. Strangely enough, even though the earlier B & B programmes were in black and white, I remember them as terracotta! They still prance around 'flobbalobbing' all over the place, with some rather interesting fellow garden-dwellers, who strangely enough seem to understand what B & B are ...
...any useful new phrases from Bill and Ben, although the 'neighbours' are wonderfully well-spoken. What I like about this type of programme for young children is that it teaches certain social skills. Problem-solving, how to get on with other people(/creatures), how important it is not to give up too easily to name but a few. For adults? Well, I can only speak for myself of course, but I found the two main characters wonderfully camp and went from ...
