These dragons breathe fire
Advantages: Inventions, concept, entrepreneurs Disadvantages: Arrogance by both parties
Dragons Den is a BBC production and has one of the most basic formats on TV very similar to that of the X Factor (before the crowd came in) and Britain's Got Talent. But rather than judges there are five business entrepreneurs who are all in the den looking for the next big business idea which will add to their already bulging pockets, making us as the audience feel some sort of resentment for what they have got - well it makes me feel like that ... ...idea which they want the dragons to back and take to the next level. It works by all of the entrepreneurs going into the den with a percentage of their company that they are willing to give away and how much they are asking for this equity stake. The rules are very simple - they must go away with at least the amount of money they have come in asking for or they leave the den empty handed. The only thing that is negotiable is the equity stake which ...

Hunting for a bargain?
Advantages: An entertaining show Disadvantages: None
...to watch an episode of Bargain Hunt. Although the programme centres around the contestants making a profit from their bargain hunting the emphasis is all on the two teams pitting their wits against one another. The programme starts with Tim Wonnacott introducing two eager teams, each team is made up of just two members and one team is given red sweatshirts and the other team blue sweatshirts. Each team is then assigned an expert in the world of antiques ... ...experts who regularly appear on Bargain Hunt, Phillip Serrell, who is often seen wearing a Rupert bear scarf ! David Barby, Kate Bliss and James Braxton to name a few. Each team is given £300 and you see them scurrying around the Antiques fair trying to find something that they consider a good enough buy to make them a small profit at auction. I think this must be a real challenge! I have been to many Antique fairs and have always thought how high ...

Top Gear The Polar Special
Advantages: Hilarious, cheap to buy Disadvantages: could have done to have extra features,as per usual with T.G DVDS
...my last review!)
The Top Gear lads are back in business, with the release of their eagerley anticipated challenge, 'The Polar Special'.
I first saw this, along with the American Special going on for about a year ago now,and as expected from the team, was in stitches when I saw it.
Only Jeremy Clarkson,James May and the Hamster could be daft enough to consider racing to the North Pole and actually pull it off!
I first heard they had released this ... ...specials.
Ofcause being a Top Gear fan,I couldnt buy one special without the other so opted for an ebay seller who was selling each single DVD for five pounds each including p + p (New and sealed may I add!)
I think that this was a real bargain as I have actually never seen the single specials available in the shops and the double box sets were generally being sold for around twenty pounds i.e H.M.V,Zavvi etc.
Packaging:
The Polar DVD case is ...

Fun for participants but not for viewers
Advantages: good Disadvantages: not enough coverage
A programme that the BBC heavily invested in, it was an experience of a life time for the lucky people who were chosen. I would love to have gone. A year away, what a way to learn about yourself. However, it wasn’t that good viewing, it never really captured or made it addictive viewing. I think that was because of the reluctance of the Castaways to be filmed. Well, for all that money that was spent, we got a few episodes, nothing major. So, ... ...to compare it to Big Brother then it was a failure, but I think although the setting was brilliant, the cold and wet isn’t that appealing. There were some good bits like Ron, who had more than a word to say. But, overall I was disappointed, it was good for the cast, but for the viewers…..not so good. The BBC tried in vain to copy Shipwrecked, but failed. Aspects were good but what’s the point when we didn’t get to see anything. ...

Exploring the wilderness from your own armchair.
Advantages: a fascinating insite into survival lore Disadvantages: none
...title of this series suggests, Ray Mears pushes this idea to the extreme and experiences the joys and hardships of living off the land in a wide range of locations from around the world. Ray Mears is one of that rare breed of modern day explorer, like Benedict Allen and the legendary "Bush Tucker Man" who travel the wilderness in the name of excitement, challenge and good TV documentary making and anyone familiar with either of the latter two names ... ...passing on his knowledge.
Ray is perhaps the foremost expert in his field - most certainly the most well travelled; yet people are often surprised to see him rolling up his sleeves and getting stuck in with those that are enjoying Bushcraft for the first time. Nothing pleases him more than to see a student reaching beyond their own expectation of themselves, challenging their own beliefs about the world around them as they see it anew through the ...
