Star Trek Voyager - It needed a better ending

Advantages: Sometimes hits the heights of the original series
Disadvantages: Can get a bit annoying at times

Star Trek Voyager goes up and down in my affections as a version of Star Trek, the programme is different from all the other Sar Treks in that in the very first episode the ship is catapulted to the delta quadrant by a myserious force called the Caretaker who then dies, the ship is sent along with a marque (bandits) ship which was the original focus of the mission. The two ships soon realise that too get back to Earth they must come together under ...
...ship becomes voyagers second in command and its revealed that several members on both ships are in fact spies. The ship is commanded by Captain Janeway and the crew soon realise that they are with the best of all world over 70 years away from Earth even at full warp. Janeway pulls the crew together and using the rigidity of the space corps rules and regulations brings out the best in the crew. She promises exciting new findings, possible alternate ...

It Should Have Been Avon's 7

Advantages: Interesting plots. Paul Darrow
Disadvantages: Underfunded

Blake’s 7 is the cheapest British science fiction programme ever made. It’s also one of the best. First made in 1978, in the wake of the Star Wars phenomena, it lasted for 52 episodes and finished in 1982. It is set in the 30th century and most of the known galaxy is under the oppression of The Federation. Blake, Avon, Cally, Gan and Vila have been convicted of various crimes and are sent to the prison planet of Cynus Alpha. Along the way, Blake, ...
...ship. The ship appears to have been abandoned. The main computer Zen, says the ship is named the Liberator. The follow the prison ship to Cygnus alpha to rescue the others. Blake has a plan to use the Liberator and his fellow prisoners as a resistance group against the evil Federation. Gan and Vila are the only two that are rescued. They pick up Cally a couple of episodes later when looking for another known resistance group. She is the only survivor ...

Sliders Dual-Dimension DVD set

Advantages: Good original story ideas, Great characters, Excellent effects!
Disadvantages: Some of the episodes are in the wrong order on the DVD.

...used to air Sliders on BBC2 but the BBC decided not to purchase Seasons Four and Five after they aired on Sky One. That left many of us who were watching on BBC2 in a bit of a bother because we didn't have Sky. The characters Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell) aka Q-Ball Quinn spends most of his time in the basement of the house, where he often conducts various experiments, one of course that led to sliding. He lives in San Fransisco and when he was ...
...a car crash at the same time. After his father's death Quinn got interested in 'Quantum Physics' and decided to go to the University of California to study the subject. There he attended lectures by Professor Arturo. He also works part time at the Doppler Computer Superstore as a repairman. His friend Wade also works there. Wade (Kathleen) Wells (Sabrina Lloyd) Wade is the best friend of Quinn Mallory and works at the Doppler Computer Superstore. ...

Mulder Gone is Just What The X-files Needed

Advantages: More good episodes
Disadvantages: No Mulder

There are two types of X-file fan: a) One who likes Mulder best b) One who likes Scully best. It really is as simple as that. Those who chose the latter will not be too bothered at the prospect of Mulder leaving the show. The others? Well, they probably aren't reading this opinion. So is Mulder leaving a good thing? Well, as you may have deduced from the title, I think it is. To demonstrate why, I shall have to divide the show into two sections. ...
...a) The one-off episodes about a monster, ghost, or some other odd creature and b) What I call the "conspiracy episodes" I always find the former to be a lot better, but, then, the X-files wouldn't be the X-files without any of the latter. However, when too many "conspiracy episodes" build up, the X-files gets, shall we say, slightly tedious. Which brings me on to my main point. Why is the show better off without Mulder? The answer is simple. What ...

Space The Final Frontier

Advantages: Groundbreaking TV, has stood the test of time
Disadvantages: Not enough made

(after writing an idiot's guide to Dr.Who I thought I'd do a similar thing for Star Trek-the original series) >>SO HOW DID IT ALL START? Gene Roddenberry first thought of the idea behind the series in 1964. It's set in the future around the 24th century. A United federation of Planets exists and earth is one of the founding members The starship enterprise one of the flagships of the federation is embarked on a five-year mission…'To seek out new ...
...before.' Roddenberry took this idea to NBC and a pilot episode was commissioned in September 1964 called 'The Cage' at a cost of $630,000 it was one of the most expensive pilot's ever made and was the beginning of a new generation (pun intended!) of TV sci-fi. >>OK, OK ENOUGH WITH THE HISTORY LESSON…TELL ME ABOUT THE PILOT SHOW.. The star ship enterprise has been sent to evacuate wounded personnel from a mysterious planet…but aliens kidnap the ...
