Advantages Advantages Brilliantly funny and violent slapstick

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for all

The third in the unofficial ‘alternative comedy’ trilogy featuring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson, following on from the almost forgotten Filthy Rich and Catflap and, of course, the legendary Young Ones. Bottom was a wonderfully grimy creation, a playground of extreme violence and absurd slapstick mixed with cartoon surrealism, the many double entendres which spewed forth holding it all together like the crusty bits which kept Richie’s underpants intact. BACKGROUND>> Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson first thrust their anarchic wacky humour upon the nation under the guise of The Dangerous Brothers ... more

    Advantages Advantages It's Hilarious

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Only Two Serie's

If you have never heard of bottom you haven't seen good comedy. Origanally made in 1993 and aired on bbc 2 it's legend lives on in vhs form. The bottom crew consist's of mainly two people ritchie (rik mayall) and eddie (ade edmondson) and sometimes dave hedgehog (christopher ryan) and spudgun (chris o'donnell). The series are about two rather sad people who are either looking for sex (Especially richie) or fighting A great combination. Richie is kind of strange and is alway's having a w*nk but refuses to admit he does. Eddie is alway's drunk or getting swizzed by some video dealers selling him ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excruciatingly Violently Funny.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Alas, Tis No More.

Bottom. Created by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. Bottom was made from 1991 to 1995 and contained 18 episodes over 3 series. Cast: Richie Richard (Rik Mayall). Richie is a sad, lonely, pathetic, desperate, ill washed with XXXL underpanted (well you get the picture) excuse for a man. But he has big dreams and believes he is destined for better things, like lying on a desert island and "snogging all the birds a fella can grapple with" Edward Elizabeth Hitler (Adrian Edmondson) (who's mothers name is unbelievably, Adolf) Eddie is a gregarious, drunken (when he can fiddle the money out of ... more

Advantages Advantages Anarchic, violent, and hilarious

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't appeal to all tastes

If there's ever been a subject that divides people, it's comedy - what one person loves, another hates, what reduces some people to jelly will leave others stoney faced. Bottom doesn't do anything to change this (hey, I'm not going to try to convince anyone that it's got universal appeal) but I might be able to convince you that it's not all bad. Let's take a trip down misery lane (turning left into pervy avenue) Richie and Eddie are two sad pervies whose sole aim in life is to do 'it'. That's the premise, pure and simple. Following the pair each week we see their desperate attempts to break ... more

Advantages Advantages Well Written, Well Acted, Great Laugh

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not For Kids!!

Many people have likened Bottom to toilet humour, but it's much more than that, sure you have your knob/fart gags, but there is also underlying incidental gags, that are, very funny, very clever and that most people seemingly miss. The title of this opinion is one of those very gags, ok the line isn't hilariously funny on it's own, but in the context of the show in which it's said, it is hilarious. Bottom's concept is two guys Richard Richard (Mayall) and Edward Elizabeth Hitler (Edmondson) 'living outside the system', in every possible way. Jobless, they live in a dingy house on a rough ... more
