I find this an astonishing programme. In this day and age of million pound prizes all over the place (lottery, pools, who wants to be...etc etc), the fact that a programme that ritually humiliates people for the chance of a few quid can command peak time viewing is astounding. It has the hint of a Japanese game show about it in terms of the humiliation, but it is so British in the way the contestants (victims?) take it. It makes very clever use of peoples' desire to have their 15 minutes of fame and will cost next to nothing to produce (apart that is from Ann Robinson's fee !! ). A very shrewd idea.
