The Greatest Sci fi show of all
Advantages: A really good show, very entertaining, superb stories, and its the most prolific science Disadvantages: A few dodgy effects, and missing episodes
...was originally made by the BBC (who thought it would only run for a few episodes, like many other long running shows), in black and white, and was devised by the BBC’s head of drama, Sidney Newman. It started off just as much an educational program as a entertainment one, as each story would alternate between future settings and historicals, however as time went on the purely historicals were left behind.

Not one for me!
Advantages: Good idea for a show. Disadvantages: Its like soft porn, those accents, the gore - it is all too much.
I have seen all the Adverts, and heard about this award winning show everywhere I seem to turn over the last few weeks. After reading a lot of really positive reviews about True Blood, and with it billed as the grown up Buffy and Twlight, I was sold and purchased the season 1 box set, I got snuggled on the sofa that evening with a hot chocolate and biscuits (yes I am getting old I know) and was started the first episode.... The show follows the residents ... ...waitress, and her Vampire friend Bill. A formula called Tru Blood has been developed in Japan which allow Vampires to live amongest Human, although these are many issues this raises for both the Vampires and humans. Some vampires do not want to stop drinking human blood, many live in the shadows of the community as they are not welcome and still seen as dangerous, and there is racism towards them. They also bring with them a new "Drug" which is called ...

Street Hawk
Advantages: Partially entertaining Disadvantages: a bit far fetched and sometimes dull
...which doesn't really count)
Street hawk seemed to come out in the middle of the other more popular tv series of the same type and so never really caught on…lasting only five months… maybe because of the pretty tame challenges that the man on the scooter had to over come… but in reality the show was quite entertaining and not too over the top… unless you count a motorbike jumping out of some warehouse doors every time a case came up as over the top…

True Blood: Can it Take a Bite Out of an Over-Crowded Genre?
Advantages: Explores some interesting themes. Well acted. Disadvantages: Too many storylines happening at once.
At the time of writing, vampire themed movies and TV shows seem to be going through a resurrection (pun intended). It's been a long time since the days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and spin-off series Angel but in an era where vampires have been romanticised as sparkly, bleeding-heart saps thanks to the Twilight books and movies, does True Blood have what it takes to bring new life to the genre? Like Twilight, True Blood also originates from a series ... ...and it also focuses centrally on the romance between a human and a vampire but that's really where the comparisons end. The main protagonist is Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress working in a bar called Merlotte's in the small, fictional town of Bon Temps in Louisiana. Sookie isn't just any ordinary girl though, she possesses the ability to read people's minds. Unfortunately for Sookie this is more of a curse than a gift so it's a huge relief when she ...

Oddly compelling, entertaining TV, great spin on vampire genre
Advantages: Very entertaining, good story, good mix of characters Disadvantages: For Some: Quite a bit of blood & under the sheets action (except not under the sheets)
I am coming into the True Blood TV series a little late really but I have watched all of season one and most of season two online.
Classification/Content/Rating
I think the first thing to say after seeing Twilight mentioned in one of these reviews, and having watched Twilight last night, is that True Blood is far more explicit in every sense of the word with a lot of blood, biting, a fair amount of nudity or semi nudity and a level of sex. ... ...
Sookie Stackhouse has an unnerving gift/curse, works as a waitress, lives with her grandmother after her parents were killed in a flood in a small Louisiana village called Bon Temps. Her brother lives nearby (a bit of a casanova). The Japanese have invented a blood replacement drink (in a variety of blood types) that has enabled vampires to live among humans but this presents problems of their own, e.g. vampire/equal rights, violent vampire ...
