Having three children under 4, i am very grateful for any peace and quiet in my household, or at least somthing to distract my 3 year old and 18 months old from wrecking the house once again, by pulling out the stacks of toys they own but not actually playing with them.
so, the favorite choice of programme for my son seems to be cbeebies at the moment. I first was introuduced to this channel when we got freeview about 18 months ago, although it is on bbc2 for a couple of hours every morning. So, for 18 months i have missed all the daytime tele that i liked to watch the bonus from this i guess is a actually manage to get my housework done!
Cbeebies boast from many good programmes, classics such as come outside( the one with aunty mabel and a little dog called pippin who fly about in a aeroplane, to find out how things are made eg soap) of course these are just re runs but they are one of them programmes that even i remebered watching as a little girl. Then theres Brum, About an old car who drive about getting into all sorts of situations. Again another classic, is of course fireman sam & postman Pat although these are updated more modern versions. But all the same bascis are there as the old epsiodes, that i remeber.
Then we have the new educational programmes full of music, fun and play.Such as tikkabilla, big cook & little cook, Lazy town, fimbles, tweenies etc. there is just too many to list.
there is one programme however, thats called something special. This is a programme that teaches sign langauge. which i think is something very clever to include on the days programming. well done BBC!The channel is hosted by a mix of different presenters, all that come across slightly deranged ha ha. No there are frim fixtures that make the channel what it is, with little eductional touches in between the programmes.
My son particulary favours boogie beebies, a great exercise programme, which combines dance moves and singing together. many a times i come into the front room to find my son lying on the floor copying there every move. Also, at six o' clock it begins bedtime hour at which stage my kids are eating dinner, the programmes go more solitude and really help the kids to calm and relax before bed at seven, which is perfect cause cbeebies finshes then too!
the dis advantages to this channel is of course its hard to get them away from the tv when its on, i find that talking to a brick wall is perhaps more sucessfull, then trying to get the attention of my son. Also, i haven't been able to get a look in on the tv, until my kids are all in bed at seven, so i dont get to watch neighbours or doctors or hollyoaks anymore. not good
Also a very SERIOUS disadvantage is you will find yourself singing and humming the songs and tunes to the programmes with out even noticing it! which is fine when your at home but in the supermarket you get some funny looks.Well i hope this helps & think very carefully before introducing your children to it......cause its a life long commitment ha. As far as would i recommend yes i would. think yours kids would enjoy it.
Must also say check out the cbeebies website as that has a great source of projects, games and activities to do with the kids.

The cbeebies website is really good for little ones too......you can print out lots of their favourite characters, play games (although some need quite a bit of help initially) and listen to the stories, all great for developing mouse control skills etc.. Good review
