Manufacturer's product description
The BCS Glossary is the most authoritative and comprehensive glossary of its kind on the market today. This unrivalled study aid and reference tool has newly updated entries and is divided into themed sections, making it more than just a list of definitions. Written in a style that is easily accessible to anybody with an interest in computing, it is specifically designed to support those taking computer courses or courses where computers are used, including GCSE, A-Level, ECDL and 14-19 Diplomas in Functional Skills, in schools and Further Education colleges. The glossary has been compiled by members of the British Computer Society Education and Training Expert Panel, many of whom are teachers or former teachers. In creating the glossary, they have drawn heavily upon their many years experience in the education sector, as well as their detailed knowledge of computing. The resulting definitions, and the way they are organised, help the reader build up a knowledge and understanding of computing. See all Product Description
...This book is brilliant if you want a excellent and comprehensive book on an introduction to a History of modern computing. I first used this book to complete a project on the world wide web and the Internet and I found it to be very detailed and it also has great pictures to accompany the text that is written in this book.
This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like GCSE or A Level Information technology or computer studies or GNVQ in health and social care. (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on). I think this book could also be used for people/ students who want a more detailed introduction into A history of modern computing

Advantages: BRILLIANT QUALITY BOOKS! Disadvantages: CAN BE A BIT EXPENSIVE
...with my cheque for about £13 (£9.95 plus postage)eagerly awaiting my selection of five fairytale collection books worth £156.75 and my free gift of a set of two greek myths books. I was not disapionted! these books were bigger than i expected (about A4), were cloth bound and had such wonderful illustration plates of the original illustrations used for these fairytale stories. I was also sent a catalogue of thier current titles to pick from. The agreement is that you can keep your books at that special price, and to keep your membership for a year, they ask that you buy four books over the year. As a member you also get exlusive access to the members room in london where you have the option of foregoing the postage costs and picking them up in person.

Advantages: A humorously irreverent look at British history. Disadvantages: None for me. Too English for some?
..., with an idea if how life was for the rest.
I found it an entertaining way of improving my understanding of the way Britain has evolved from the Stone Age to the early 21st century, in other words from Neanderthal to Blair.
There is a colour illustrated hardback edition or a paperback version. The Amazon website currently has a Look Inside feature, which shows the full list of contents, introductory chapter and index.
The paperback has served me well, but you may prefer the hardback especially while it is on special offer at Amazon. Their website has a Look Inside feature for this book.
For me, this is a book to buy, rather than just to borrow.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those wishing to improve on a very basic knowledge of British history.
