These days a man (or woman) has a huge choice when it comes to what to choose to do the awful daily chore of shaving. You can go all electric, but they never seem to really get close enough to being a good shave - unless you pay the 'earth' for one. Then there is the 'old fashioned' way, but still the best way - a wet shave. But which shaving system to choose?
Well, in my humble opinion (and this is one) you get what you pay for. Choose something like the Wilkinson Sword top of the range razor and blades or the great Gillette Mach 3 razor/shaving system and you will get shave after shave that leaves your skin feeling smooth and clean. But what about the more 'cheap n cheerful' end of the market?
These Bic razors come into that category. They are disposable, they are cheap BUT they are a danger to all !!! They really are nasty to use.
My wife (who resisted my offer to let her borrow one) snuck a packet of these into our travel bag before we flew out on holiday. Fortunately - unbeknown to her - I had already secreted away my usual Mach 3 razor and blades. But she had tried, bless her cotton buds, so I did try them out (much against my better judgement).
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!
OK So it was not quite that painful - but a word of warning to anyone contemplating cutting costs by buyong these items - DO NOT. Despite a copious amount of shaving gel and a wet face, sliding these blades over my stubble was a struggle. The blade did not remove all the growth - despite it being just a regular 24 hour one (unlike my son who leaves his shaving for about four day - I hate to think of the screams I'd hear from the bathroom if he used these torture intruments).
These razors are definately very cheap in comparison to the Gillette Mach 3 blades. Those can cost you around £1 each - compared to that, you can get a pack of these disposables for that price. But what price do you put on personal comfort?
Unlike the majority of razors - disposables or cartridges - these do not have any kind of safety bar across the blade. Thus it is very easy to get a nick - well several nicks actually. Don't fall for the 'sensitive skin' label either. I'd certainly hate to use any Bic razors for 'regular' skin, if this is the quality of their product for 'sensitive' skinees like me.
I usually shave both my face and my head each morning. I will confess quite readily that I did not trust the shaving of my bald bonce to these 'lethal weapons'. It made emough of a mess of my face thank you very much.
There is not much more I can tell you about this product except this - BE AFRAID...BE VERY AFRAID. In untrained hands these are lethal. Ladies - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THESE RAZORS FOR YOUR BIKINI LINE (ouch!)
Just keep well clear. If you are even thinking about using these razors, merely for the price - think again. If you are a pain freak - jab a needle into your face instead. If you like Blood - go see a horror movie. If you want smooooooooth - buy a bar of Galaxy chocolate and if you want a smoooth shave, get a decent razor - NOT THIS BIC DEATH TRAP!

FINAL THOUGHT --- It's just dawned on me. My wife bought these for me. Maybe she knew they were crap. Maybe she was hoping.....naaah, of course not. I think I'd better check what's for Dinner tonight - I didn't think my life insurance was worth THAT Much.
Advantages: none Disadvantages: made my legs very sore
...It also tells the nearest Bic headquarters for each country; in the UK, BIC UK Limited - Middx UB9 6NS.
Straightaway this throws up some queries such as when they say it provides a shave for one week, they do not specify how many times you might shave your legs in that one week. I do mine every other day, so clearly I would be using a razor more times than someone who might do theirs once a week. This is a point that the company could do with clarifying.
... ...- www.bicworld.com (why would anybody want to visit ‘Bicworld’ - do they have giant dancing razors, or The Runaway Hair Train? I think not.
*** Using the product ***
The first time I used one of these razors I was in the bath. It did leave my legs smooth, but the next day I noticed a bit of a shaving rash so I didn’t shave my legs again for a couple of days.
So, the next time I shaved my legs I was in the shower. And I’ll admit that I was in ...

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Not Long Lasting, Lethal, Flimsy
...are on holiday for the weekend, have forgot your normal razor and desperately need a shave. I bet the MD of Bic doesn't use these, and you shouldn't either. Invest in a good quality electric shaver or a Lynx/MACH 3 Razor.
For goodness sake keep them away from youngsters. ...

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Blunt razor - as sensitive as Freddie Kruger - made from cheap plastic - hard to grip
Bic, oh Bic what have you done to me? I was once a good looking lad until I decided I would start shaving and naively took it upon myself to use these RMD (Razors of Mass Destruction).
I remember the day of purchase. £0.99 for 5 for the razors in a nice cheap looking bag. I was excited at becoming a man and finally ridding my upper lip of the wisp of ferret hair that had grown slowly over the years. The surprising fact is that these razors are so ... ...profitable with all the competition! - They are still produced today and yes, aside from my first shave I keep a pack in my desk draw in case of emergencies - I will add that they are not for me to use - I'm not a sadist.
The razor is cheap to the touch with the flimsy plastic available in green, orange or white. I opted for the orange - Don't ask why! They contain only one blade and have a strip above that should in theory soothe and moisturise ...

Advantages: none what so ever Disadvantages: cheap and nasty
...buy the cheap and cheerful BIC razors -they are pretty lethal weapons! I cant say that they have given me a good close clean shave as thats far from the truth. I'm not heavey handed when I use a razor - but I always end up cutting myself with these razors and quite badly as well. They are an economy product which gives you economy results! They really are totally useless and go blunt within 2 shaves. Not on my buy again list! ...

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Poor shave, lethal(!), each blade only lasts one shave
I used these razors as they were cheap, simple, and disposable. The shave they give is poor, and each blade only really lasts a single shave before it's totally useless - which I accept is what's supposed to happen. There are no safety wires or anything similar which makes it very easy to cut yourself, and I found when using the razor I almost always gave myself barber's rash on my neck. I honestly can't see any redeeming features with these, since ...

Advantages: They are orange Disadvantages: Less than useless after one cut - more than dangerous when virgin
...one particular product which will inevitably, sooner or later, happen across your whimsical path, leaving one unhealthy little scar, and that's the orange terror known as the BICRAZOR. You see, at 99p for a pack of twelve of these disposable razors, there is probably no cheaper bathroom related product in the world today and tite gits have a habit of seeking out the bargain.
Let's just consult the Pharmacy 2U website for one moment to see what they think of the said product -
"BICRazor for SensitiveSkin, the first in a long line of shaving traditions provides a close, smooth and satisfying shave, time after time, shave after shave. Its pure uncomplicated design delivers real shaving performance simply, reliably and effectively. It's simple with BICRazor for SensitiveSkin you get total shaving satisfaction from a name you trust...

Advantages: Cheap, dual lube strips, reasonable shave for the price Disadvantages: Awkward pivoting action can increase chance of cuts
...After getting sick and tired of paying stupid amounts for replacement blades for my Mach 3 razor, I decided to look at the cheaper alternatives.
Now disposable razors may not have the sturdy metal handle of the Mach 3 razor but I thought, "its only a handle, surely the actual blades are the same metal used in the Gillette", so I saw this on special offer in Tescos: "10 Bic Twin Blades for SensitiveSkin" for £3. Which was presented rather neatly in a sealed blister pack.
On first hold of the razor itself, it didn't seem too bad with its funky green colour, lube strip, rubber coated handle and its twin blade setup.
However i was a bit concerned about its pivoting action, since the pivot is at the top of the blade head, rather than at the bottom like the Mach 3.
My first shave didn't start off too bad, the lube strip soothing...

Advantages: A mighty close shave Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...learned to shave by touch, and it soon becomes easy, easier than you would think.
12) Alternatively shave in the shower. No more complaints about a dirty sink and the hot water makes your stubble stand up. NB, do not use Bicrazors in the shower or the scene will soon resemble the opening scene of ‘Psycho’, were Norman Bates slashes his mother to death, with the bread knife.- or maybe it WAS a Bicrazor, Hmmmmnn…
13) If you have sensitiveskin, do not use Foam or Cream, it will dry your skin out and give no end of skin problems. Foam contains alcohol, which has the tendency to draw out moisture and natural oils from the skin.
14) Change your Mach 3 blades regularly, nothing's more cheap than using that free Bicrazor that came through the letterbox six months ago, that you have been saving for a rainy day. Razors...
